HERITAGE AND HISTORYcan teach and PROVE

THAT

Page 16: China Cities

A PARADIGMIS NEEDED

Page 17: China Cities

A PARADIGM

1. It has been alive during centuries in europe and america as a reference for the foundations of new cities

2. Was part of the collective thought

IS AN OPEN MODEL

Page 18: China Cities

Chinese cities need to DEAL with some additional and

very complex issues

Page 19: China Cities

SOIL

Page 21: China Cities

BUT

Page 22: China Cities

CITIZENS NOT ALWAYS LIKE TO LIVE IN

COMPACT CITIES WITH VERY HIGH SKYSCRAPERS, AWAY FROM THE

LAND,FRIENDS AND FAMILIES.

Page 23: China Cities

CHINESE Heritage and history, provide the answers for future challenges

Page 24: China Cities

1. The city is NOT an architecture project neither an environmental experiment.

CITIES

ARE a political and sociological paradigm which should focus on people .

Page 25: China Cities

2. A paradigm should be defined based on basic principles and leading to a frame legislation.

Page 26: China Cities

3. World Heritage cities, as well as historic cities, could serve as reference

Page 27: China Cities

4. The cultural DNA and identity should be identified and promoted.

By this the compromise and participation of the citizens will be reinforced.

Page 28: China Cities

5. The city should be designed developing the neighbourhood concept: common areas, local markets, multipurpose spaces where people can gather.

Page 29: China Cities

6. All citizens should be entitled to the same rights.

Page 30: China Cities

7. A regular non speculative housing market needs to be organized.

Page 31: China Cities

8. The state should provide entry level finance for people with the least resources.

Page 32: China Cities

Manhattan´s solutions are not right for China´s society

Page 33: China Cities

Chinese citizens have deep family roots and values

Page 34: China Cities

Manhattan´s solutions are not that of China´s societyAnd a strong sense of community

Page 35: China Cities

The street is a common and vibrant area where live takes place

Page 36: China Cities

Trade and houses have an intimate relationship

Page 37: China Cities

And Chinese society has a special liking to make life in society

Page 38: China Cities

And it has been like this as long as China´s milenary history

Page 39: China Cities

These are all part of an intangible value to be preserved
