Oooey-Gooey, Gross, and Goopy! 6-10 years

Our silly, strange, and sometimes messy science series is back!

Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

January 10: We’ll explore the deepest, darkest parts of the ocean and learn about the weird creatures like giant

squids that live there.

February 7: We’ll learn about the northern lights and animals in the Arctic.

March 7: We’ll learn how detectives solve crimes with fingerprints and forensic science!

April 11: We’ll learn about robots and try to make our own programs for robots to follow. We’ll be using the Beebots and

Cubetto robots to write our own programs.

May 9: We’ll learn about how archaeologists discover the truth about the past.

Storybook Express: 3-6 years

All aboard the Storybook Express! This very special train stops

to visit some very special book characters! Come to the

library to hop on Storybook Express to read stories, make crafts,

and play games with some favorite

book characters! You can even come

dressed as the character if you want!

Chess Tournament

Junior Division: K-4th Grades

Senior Division: 5th-8th Grades

Saturday, March 24

Arrive at 9:00 a.m.—Lower level program room

Play begins at 9:30 a.m.

You may begin to arrive at Greensburg Hempfield Area

Library at 9:00 a.m. to complete registration and for

practice play. The tournament will begin at 9:30 a.m. and

play will continue until all participants have played 5 rounds.

Three trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in

both divisions.

Advanced registration online, by phone, or in the children’s

library is necessary to participate. Space is limited.

The top 2 players from each division will be invited to the

County Tournament. Specific details will be given to the

winners.

This program is for anyone who would enjoy or benefit from

reading to a therapy dog. Bring along a favorite book or 2 or

choose from our selection and spend some time reading to the

therapy dogs!

9-12 years

There’s a new club starting at the library and tweens are invited.

Each month we’ll play games, make crafts, talk about books &

movies, eat snacks, and more! Bring your friends and your ideas

for activities!

February 15: Try watercolor resist painting!

March 15: Exper iment with or igami!

It’s time to say goodnight to all of the

planets, sun, moon, and stars with the story

Sleepy Solar System by John Hutton. We’re

asking all little astronauts to come to the

library for an outer space bedtime

adventure!

Children may wear their favorite pajamas to this program.

Come and experiment with cool tech stuff. We’ll try to make lots

of cool stuff like robots, computer programs, and movies!

January 24: Exper iment with “Snap Circuits” and try building electronic devices!

February 21: Experiment with littleBits and try to build robots and machines!

March 21: Try Sphero, a round robot that you can program to follow directions!

April 25: Make our own movies! We’ll be using iPads to create awesome stop-motion animation movies!
