Children & Family Ministries Report Continued Nursery News: Serving in the church nursery is a wonderful way to serve your church. Here are some reasons why: 1. God is there. 2. It helps others. 3. Baby’s first impressions. The first (and sometimes lasting) feelings a child will have toward church is formed in the nursery department. A positive experience in the church nursery is essential. 4. The most special assignment. When you serve in the nursery, you are being entrusted with the most important (and vulnerable) members of the church family. There is no greater treasure on this side of heaven than the little ones God has given us. You must be someone special to have a job that is so important. 5. Your own growth. 6. Visitors first impressions. The church nursery is the first contact young families will have with your church. Your friendly greeting and exceptional care for their children can make a great first impression for your church. If they don’t feel like their children are safe, they will not return – and rightly so. 7. FrontSline prayers. Remember that God blesses those who serve his children At Memorial, we offer a nursery for children (through age 4) during both our 9 & 11 am services. There is an Infant Nursery during the 10 am Sunday school hour. If you are interested in serving in this way, please let Katie Jeter, Sherie Barbare or Cindy Davis know – we are ALWAYS in need of additional volunteers and would love to have you serve the children of our church by becoming a nursery volunteer today ! UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

Circles will be starting up in September after a summer break. If you are interested in joining a circle, please call Ellen Henson or Harriet Strait. The United Methodist Women will meet together on October 15 for our fall supper. Our featured speaker will be Rev. Susan Leonard-Ray. She is a former member of Memorial and now is the Anderson District Superintendent. We are looking forward to her message. Anyone is welcome to attend. It will be held in the Social Hall on Tuesday, October 15th at 6:30 p.m. Supper will be served, so please come join us. Several members will be attending the district annual meeting in September at Berea Methodist Church. Our unit will be receiving several awards for this year. We are so proud of our members for all they do. Several members will be receiving reading awards. Thank you to Marjorie Mitchell for promoting this program.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LIBRARY NEWS

Our scheduled library visit for this month will be Sunday, September 22nd. Remember to bring back the stuffed animals and books you checked out in August so that others may enjoy them! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

CHARGE CONFERENCE

Charge Conference is the annual official body of the local Church that approves and makes legal all actions of Memorial from one year to the next. We receive reports from all staff, administrative committees and ministry teams, such as Finance, Trustees, SPRC, Nominations, Missions, etc. These forms have to be inputted onto the computer and then reviewed with the District Supervisor prior to the meeting. To prepare all this, we need the reports by October 1, 2013, for our meeting. Thank you to everyone in advance for your assistance in preparing for this event.
