BANNERHEALTHOVERVIEWHISTORYBannerHealthcelebratesits18-yearanniversaryin2017.OnSept.1,1999,nonprofitsSamaritanHealthSystemandLutheranHealthSystemsannouncedtheirmerger.LutheranHealthSystemshada long-standinghistorydating from1938asa respectedhealthcareprovider inrural communities located acrossWestern andMidwestern states. Samaritan Health Systemwas formed in1911andprovidedclinicalexcellenceinCaliforniaandArizona,primarilyinthemetroPhoenixmarket. Atthetimeofthemerger,BannerHealthhad22,500employees,with32hospitalsand2,882beds.Over the next 18 years Banner Health evolved from a health system of hospitals to amore fully integratedsystemthroughaseriesofexpansions,acquisitionsandpartnerships.Itgreatlyexpandeditsrelationshipwithleadingproviders,focusedonclinicalexcellenceandexpandeditsservices.TheSystemopened3newhospitals,acquiredtheSunHealthnetwork(2008),atwo-hospitalsystemandexpandedseveralexistingfacilities.In2015Banner entered into a 30-year academic affiliation agreement with the University of Arizona acquiring theassetsoftheUniversityofArizonaHealthNetwork.In2016theSystemacquiredUrgentCareExtrawhichtodayoperates42urgentcarefacilitiesinArizona.BANNERARIZONAREGIONBanner Health operates 16 hospitals and medical centers throughout the State of Arizona including themetropolitanareasofPhoenixandTucsonaswellasCasaGrande,PaysonandPage.ThisDivisionistheleadingproviderof services in themetropolitanPhoenixareaaswell as the state. IX. CANDIDATEQUALIFICATIONSThe Chief Clinical Officer will be a physician executive with at least 10-15 years (or equivalent) progressiveleadershipexperience ina large, complexhealthcareorganization. S/hewill possessdemonstrated success instrategicandoperationalclinicalleadershipatanexecutivelevel,withtheprovenabilitytocollaborativelyguideandtransformanorganizationinthepursuitofitsstrategicobjectives.TheCCOwillbeanexperiencedleaderwith the demonstrated ability to hire andmanage high-performing teams of significant size. S/hewill be anaccomplished leader in the setting and execution of clinical quality guidelines and be a strong proponent ofclinicalquality.Additionalexperientialrequirementsofthepositioninclude:
