Chicken Wing Dissection Lab

(READ THIS BEFORE STARTING THE LAB)

Safety Precautions

u Chicken can carry salmonella, which can make you very sick.

u Wear gloves and goggles at all times.

u Do not touch your mouth, nose, eyes, or face.

u  Tie hair back, away from face.

u Push back sleeves.

u When done, wash your hands and wrists with soap and water for at least one minute.

u You will be handling sharp instruments. Be very careful!

u Always cut AWAY from your body.

u  Inform the teacher of any accidents with sharp instruments, no matter how minor they may seem.

Make sure you…

u Read ALL instructions slowly and carefully and make sure you know what to do. Ask the teacher if you are not sure!

u  Treat the chicken wing respectfully – it was a living thing. Do not play with the chicken wing or you will be removed from the lab.

u  Stay at your table/with your group, sitting or standing without moving around too much.

u  Follow all instructions at the end for proper and safe cleanup.
