Keep up with the Times
Times change and so do high schools. A high school’s focus may be different today
than it was several years ago. Avoid the pressure to go where everyone else
wants you to go.Avoid the pressure to go where all of your
friends are going. Find the school with the right fit for you.

Explore early
Begin exploring high school choices in 6th grade.
This gives you two years for self-examination and high school exploration.
Research schools of interest on the internet. Ask older siblings, relatives, and friends who
are in high school to talk with you about their experiences—good and bad.

schools that interest you. Check out the CPS website for an overview
of all CPS high schools. Use the web to research private
schools/prep schools/boarding schools. Talk to current students/parents about their
experiences with a particular high school. Talk to former students/parents about their
experiences with a particular high school.
