Please take a moment to read this and share it with fellow group leaders. We look forward to working with you to help make your visit a success. Please register your group's visit . This information allows us to plan for proper staffing on busy days and to have contact information for your group, particularly in the event of an emergency. Be aware that dates in April and May fill up quickly! Arrange for appropriate number of chaperones. Please have 1 chaperone per 10 children. The lead chaperone needs to leave a cell phone number with the front gate. This is in case someone in your group is separated and the Zoo needs to contact your chaperone. Important payment policies. When you arrive, please have an exact count of your children (age 3-11), and adults (age 12 and up) ready. For children of members, collect a photocopy of the membership card and a parent’s photo I.D. (on same page) and present these when paying for the group. EATING LUNCHThe Grizzly Grill - This restaurant offers Zoo guests a unique dining experience while overlooking the city of Colorado Springs and surrounding region. With abundant indoor air-conditioned seating the Grizzly Grill is a great place to relax and take a break while at the Zoo.

Bring Your Own - You are welcome to bring own lunches but please be aware of the following:

Please do not bring glass items or alcoholic beverages into the zoo. Picnic tables are provided on a first-come, basis around and behind the carousel.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo does not provide lunch transport or storage.

The Grizzly Grill and patio are for their customers only and do not allow outside food inside the restaurants.

Pleas do not to feed any animals at the zoo - including pea fowl,wild birds, deer and squirrels!

ACTIVITIES

There are several activities you can do while your group is at the Zoo. You can pay at the front gate with your admission or at the individual stands (cash only).

Giraffe Feeding Experience - For $3 per bundle of food or 2 bundles for $5 you can enjoy hand-feeding the giraffes. Please do not bring in outside food to feed the giraffe, it can make them sick.

Mountaineer Sky Ride - Ride the Sky Ride for $5 for adults and $4 for kids (ages 3-11). The maximum capacity per chair is 4 people. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by another rider who is 12+ years of age. (weather dependent)

Carousel - Ride the antique carousel for $2 per person. Older than most of the people who ride it, this carousel was a popular attraction at the 1932 World's Fair. Children must be at least 48" tall to ride alone (weather dependent).

Budgie Buddies Feeding Experience - For $1 you can get a seed stick to feed the birds as you stroll through our indoor aviary surrounded by more than 100 free-flight Australian birds - budgies, finches, cockatiels, and princess parrots.

Chicken Feeding Experience - For $1 you can feed some of the rarest and most exotic chicken varieties, including silver penciled wyandottes, silver leghorns, and cochins.

PARKING

Ÿ On busy school group days, parking can be at a premium. We ask that groups car pool whenever possible. Overflow parking may be used; watch for Zoo staff directing traffic.

Ÿ Bus parking is in the south parking lot. Please park where Zoo staff direct and unload children there.

Ÿ Your group is highly encouraged to have a set departure time and any cell phone numbers you need. Zoo staff is NOT able to find or page your group when it is time for you to leave.

NAME TAGS

Even with the best of plans children will get separated from their group. To help with reuniting lost children please have children 11 and under wear name tags during your visit. List the name of your group and a phone number that a chaperone can be reached at.

WAGONS, STROLLERS,AND WHEELCHAIRS

Rent strollers ($10), wagons ($10) and wheelchairs ($12) at the Stroller Hut during the summer season. The Stroller Hut is located just past Thundergod Snack & Gift Shop on the way into the African Rift Valley. Check inside the Thundergod Snack & Gift Shop when closed and during the winter months
