Graduate StudyWestern o�ers the following graduate programs in the Departmentof Chemistry:

The Master of Science in chemistry is designed to provide a broadbackground in the various fields of chemistry with a concentration inone. This program is research based and a thesis of original researchis required for graduation.

The Doctor of Philosophy with an emphasis in environmentalchemistry is a research degree designed for those intending to takea leadership role in teaching or research in applied areas ofenvironmental chemistry. The program takes an innovativeapproach, using the skills and expertise provided by the traditionalareas of chemical study as the foundation for addressing chemicalprocesses occurring in the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere andlithosphere.
