NanotechnologyV 1505 Self-Assembly of Three-Dimensional Nanostructured Antimony. — Three-dimen-
sional nanostructured antimony is synthesized by immerging an anodically oxidized Cu sheet into a SbCl3/Bu4NBF4/DMSO solution at room temperature. The samples are characterized by FE-SEM, XRD, and HRTEM. The Sb nanocages are constructed from Sb single crystal nanowires and exhibit a regular fourteen-faced polyhedron shape. The average diameter of the Sb nanowires ranges from 5 to 8 nm. A growth mechanism is discussed. Three-dimensional nanostructured Sb may be a good system for studying the electronic conduction and transport properties, and quantum confinement effects. — (LIU*, P.; ZHONG, K.; LIANG, C.; YANG, Q.; TONG, Y.; LI, G.; HOPE, G.
