17 - 224Production of Glass-Ceramics from Coal Ashes. — Attractive darkgreen glass-ceramics are produced from coal fly ashes by melting calcined(950 ◦C, 2 h) fly ash under addition of CaCO3 and Na2CO3 at 1520 ◦C for2 h. The obtained glass-ceramics are characterized by XRD and SEM. Owingto their chemical, thermal and mechanical properties it is suggested that apotential application for these glass-ceramics may be as low-loading bearingstructural materials, that can be used for example in kitchen and laboratorybenches, cooker plates, and as cladding materials for walls, roofs, and floors.— (LEROY, C.; FERRO, M.
