    Phase II

    1) Paper 1(English)

    a) Argumentative essay Here choose the topic wisely as you need to give arguments

    to support your statements you write. So by reading newspapers and magazines listed

    for phase I, you will gain knowledge. You should also learn some quotations of great

    people like Gandhi, Nehru etc about current events, example what they said about

    food security, growth etc. You can also draw diagrams to make your essay look

    different from others. Remember one most important thing NEVER criticize the

    government or government schemes.

    b) Precis writing and comprehension By solving the previous year papers.

    c) Letter writing Browse the RBI website to know what are the format of circulars,

    reports, letters etc, as RBI follows a fixed format, and knowing that format can give

    you some extra points.

  • 2) Paper 2(Economic and Social Issues)

    In this paper you need good handwriting with good speed. Please note that you must

    cover each and every topic given the syllabus.

    Books

    a) Selected reading from Dutt and Sundharam

    b) Economic survey

    c) NCERT Class 11th Economics

    d) NCERT Class 12th Economics ( only macro-economics)

    e) Selected reading from Pratiyogita Darpan General Studies Indian Economy special

    g) Newspapers The Hindu and Economic Times

    h) Union Budget

    i) Any one/more of these monthly magazines (Pratiyogita Darpan, Economy at a Glance

    by dhankar publications, CSAT Chronicle)

    Be through with the concepts like GDP,GNP, deficits, debt, inflation etc. In this

    paper, whenever a question is asked, then start with the definition of that topic and

    then pour down your knowledge in systematic manner. Example They asked a

    question on Urbanization, now you should first define Urbanization in 4-5 lines, and

    then continue with your answer. You can also draw the diagrams/flow-charts

    wherever you may feel, to give a better presentation to your answer. If you are

    writing your answer in points then do end with a conclusion. Do solve previous year

    papers to gain confidence.

    3) Paper 3(Finance and Management)

    I) Finance Here the books are same as that for paper 2. Just complete each and

    every topic given in syllabus.

    II) Management Principles and Practice of Management L.M Prasad . In this

    part of the paper, the questions are often repeated, so solve the previous year

    papers.

    My scorecard for phase 2

    English = 70

    ESI = 62

    FMG = 64

    Written total = 196

  • How much to write (Golden Question)

    Now RBI only specifies word limits for Paper 1(English), whereas no such limit is given for

    Paper 2 and Paper 3. Here is what you may follow

    For 10 marks questions Write one page both sides.

    For 20 marks questions Write two pages both sides.

    Though people may write more also, but I followed this answer writing-length this time.

    Previous year papers can be found at www.rbi.vze.com and
