Your niche needs to haveenough traffic to hit your
minimum income goal. Theminimum goal is for you to
decide. For beginningmarketers it can be as small
as $100 a month, while moreexperienced marketers may
aim for thousands. As a rough gauge, assumeyou'll be able to get 15% of
your main keyword's traffic.At a 1% conversion rate,
would it be enough traffic toget you to your minimum
goal?

To get started, you want totarget low-competitionsearch terms. These are
terms you believe you canrank in the top five forwithin no more than 3
months. The ideal nicheshould have at least three ofthese terms, so you can startmaking money right out the
gate.
People AreSpending Money
By: Affiliate Marketing 101 E-Course
Make sure that other peoplein the market are actually
spending money. There aremany niches that may
appear to have lowcompetition, but aren't beingmarketed to simply because
people don't spend money inthat market.
Has RepeatProduct Potential
By: Affiliate Marketing 101 E-Course
You will almost always makemore money in a market
where you can sellrepeatedly, as opposed to amarket where you can sell
just one item. In otherwords, look for markets
where the problem won't besolved with just one sale.Subscription models or
consumable goods are greatexamples.
Has at Least OneCompetitor
By: Affiliate Marketing 101 E-Course
You want to go into marketswhere at least one person ismaking money. If there areno competitors, it's possible
that you've found a trulyuncharted market, but morelikely than not others havealready tried it and failed.
Ideally, your market shouldhave just a small number ofmarketers who are making
decent money. There shouldbe a couple people at the
table, but the table shouldn'tbe crowded.
Has a Passionate orDesperate User
Base
By: Affiliate Marketing 101 E-Course
Is the user base passionateabout the issue? Or, in the
case of a problem (i.e. acne),are they desperate about
finding a solution? The morepassionate and/or desperate
the end users, the morewilling they are to part with
their cash.

By: Affiliate Marketing 101 E-Course
Sometimes you'll find amarket that looks good on
the surface, but you justknow it will be dull work. In
that case, you need to askyourself: Do you want to doit? Remember that creating
a website isn't a sprint - it's amarathon. Getting good
rankings can take as long assix months, sometimes evenmore in competitive arenas. Is this an industry you wantto be in for a few months?
