PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
COOPERATION - RESPECT - RESPONSILIBITY - SAFETY PAGE 1
Good afternoon,
You may have noticed a number of minor
ground works around the playground
recently. James, our new Groundsman, is
preparing some areas for improvements.
The area between the office and Miss
Tyrie’s room will be cemented and a roof
erected to provide a protected area for
students to have recess and lunch. The
garden near the office will be cemented.
This will provide better access to the
office and classrooms.
Our school is part of the 229 schools on
the Empowering Local Schools Initiative.
We will be implementing new programs
to streamline the administration process-
es of the school.
Thank you to the P&C for organising the
Fathers’ Day Stall. This is not seen as a
major fundraiser, it provides an oppor-
tunity for all of our students to buy an
affordable gift for their dad for this Sun-
day.
The school has received numerous com-
plaints recently about inappropriate lan-
guage being used adjacent to the school
grounds as well as smoking. The school

has no jurisdiction on these behaviours off
the school site, however I ask that we all use
responsible and appropriate role modelling
behaviours when on or adjacent to the school
site.
Your children will be participating in whole
grade assessments over the next 6 weeks.
This data will be used to help teachers in pre-
paring your child’s end of year report which
will be in a different format this semester. We
have moved onto an electronic format which
is in line with the DEC’s changes in adminis-
trative processes.
Yesterday we called a whole school lock
down. This was in response to a minor inci-
dent occurring in Chatham park. I did not
think it was appropriate for students to be
witnessing the incident and therefore called
the lockdown. We practise lock downs and
evacuations throughout the year so students
know what to do in these circumstances.
It was a very smooth operation and demon-
strates the need to practise these actions
throughout the year.

BIN IT
Germs can live for several hours on tis-sues. Dispose of your tissue as soon as possible.
KILL IT
Hands can transfer germs to every sur-face you touch. Clean your hands as soon as you can.
Excursion - The date for the final payment of the Stage 3 excursion is Friday
7th September. If any families have any problems with this final payment date,

please check that their child completes their homework tasks and hand it in to
their class teacher on time.

School. Some of the Year 8/9 students conducted a literacy session for our stu-

Peer Support - Peer Support is going really well and will continue until Week 9
of this term.
Assessments - Assessments have now commenced for Stage 3.
Big School for Little Kids
We are now taking enrolments for students for Kindergarten 2013. This is a very exciting time for the
children and for their parents. Orientation visits are a fun and enjoyable time for the children to prepare
to come to big school. We have 4 Orientation Days coming up which we hope will settle some of the ini-
tial nerves for both the children and their parents.
Thursday 6 September 2012 (Term 3 Week 8) - 2.00pm to 3.00pm.
Thursday 25 October 2012 (Term 4 Week 3) - 2.00pm to 3.00pm.

Mrs Pitt Assistant Principal
We ask that each student
please supply their classroom
with a box of tissues. Due to
the cold and flu season, our
supplies have run very low and
are in need of supplementing.
If each child could please sup-
ply just one box it would be
appreciated.

Please supply your child with a change of school
clothes in their school bag if your child is prone to toi-
leting accidents. This would be of benefit to your child
as it would minimise the disruption to their class time
and would benefit parents/caregivers as they would
not have to come to the school with the spare clothing.
Parents will always be informed of any accidents of this
nature.
