PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

COOPERATION - RESPECT - RESPONSILIBITY - SAFETY PAGE 1

Good afternoon,

You may have noticed a number of minor

ground works around the playground

recently. James, our new Groundsman, is

preparing some areas for improvements.

The area between the office and Miss

Tyrie’s room will be cemented and a roof

erected to provide a protected area for

students to have recess and lunch. The

garden near the office will be cemented.

This will provide better access to the

office and classrooms.

Our school is part of the 229 schools on

the Empowering Local Schools Initiative.

We will be implementing new programs

to streamline the administration process-

es of the school.

Thank you to the P&C for organising the

Fathers’ Day Stall. This is not seen as a

major fundraiser, it provides an oppor-

tunity for all of our students to buy an

affordable gift for their dad for this Sun-

day.

The school has received numerous com-

plaints recently about inappropriate lan-

guage being used adjacent to the school

grounds as well as smoking. The school

TISSUES

STAGE 3 REPORT

Buderus 7’s –On Wednesday 5th Sep-

tember, our school will be participat-

ing in the Buderus 7’s. We will have a

non-competitive rugby league team

and a girl’s league tag team participat-

ing on the day. Our Competitive Team

recently participated winning 2 games

of the 4 they played. (pictured are some of the boys with Mr McCleary).

Swimming Scheme - The Intensive Swimming Scheme commences next week .

If your child is participating, please ensure they arrive at school on time and have

their items required to participate.

Regional Athletics - Congratulations to Chloe Hammond who will represent

Chatham Public School and our region at the PSSA Regional Athletics in New-

castle tomorrow.

CATCH IT

Germs spread easily. Always carry tissues and use them to catch your cough or sneeze.

BIN IT

Germs can live for several hours on tis-sues. Dispose of your tissue as soon as possible.

KILL IT

Hands can transfer germs to every sur-face you touch. Clean your hands as soon as you can.

Excursion - The date for the final payment of the Stage 3 excursion is Friday

7th September. If any families have any problems with this final payment date,

please contact Miss Mills as soon as possible.

Homework - Stage 3 students have weekly homework. We ask parents to

please check that their child completes their homework tasks and hand it in to

their class teacher on time.

High School Transition - Yesterday our Year 5/6 students visited Chatham High

School. Some of the Year 8/9 students conducted a literacy session for our stu-

dents in the library.

Peer Support - Peer Support is going really well and will continue until Week 9

of this term.

Assessments - Assessments have now commenced for Stage 3.

Big School for Little Kids

We are now taking enrolments for students for Kindergarten 2013. This is a very exciting time for the

children and for their parents. Orientation visits are a fun and enjoyable time for the children to prepare

to come to big school. We have 4 Orientation Days coming up which we hope will settle some of the ini-

tial nerves for both the children and their parents.

Thursday 6 September 2012 (Term 3 Week 8) - 2.00pm to 3.00pm.

Thursday 25 October 2012 (Term 4 Week 3) - 2.00pm to 3.00pm.

Tuesday 13 November 2012 (Term 4 Week 6) - 1.30pm to 3.00pm.

Thursday 7 December 2012 (Term 4 Week 9) - 2.00pm to 3.00pm.

If you have any questions or require further information please contact the school office.

Mrs Pitt Assistant Principal

We ask that each student

please supply their classroom

with a box of tissues. Due to

the cold and flu season, our

supplies have run very low and

are in need of supplementing.

If each child could please sup-

ply just one box it would be

appreciated.

THANK YOU

Please supply your child with a change of school

clothes in their school bag if your child is prone to toi-

leting accidents. This would be of benefit to your child

as it would minimise the disruption to their class time

and would benefit parents/caregivers as they would

not have to come to the school with the spare clothing.

Parents will always be informed of any accidents of this

nature.
