for the Church of St John the Baptist

The masterpiece of Max Ingrand, one of France’s greatest 20th-century master glass artists, is made up of vast panoramic windows beneath an immense hexagonal cupola. This church was built in 1962 in the Rechèvres district of Chartres by the archi-tect Jean Redréau, using innovative tri-directional techniques. The transfer of the tomb of Franz Stock there in 1963 made it a place of memorial and pilgrimage Europe-wide.
