Message From The President
As the new year starts, I'm excited about all that we will do this year. The first big
event on the calendar is our Valentine's Day Dinner/Dance. As you probably
know (if you know me well) I really don't like selling tickets - to anything... But,
as I've described the event to my friends there is a lot of excitement and interest. I
even had one friend who will be out of town ask if she could bid on some of our
auction prizes if she wasn't there... I really think we have a winner with this
concept.
I'm excited about our partnership with Lincoln Police Activities League (PAL).
Through this partnership I believe we will not only have more opportunities to earn
money, but will be able to help kids in new and fun ways.
At the Inter-Club this week we visited the Lincoln Kiwanis Club. They were
extremely welcoming, and I'm hoping that over this year we will be able to forge a
partnership with this club to really broaden our ability to help in the community.
And last but certainly not least, I'm excited to become a grandmother for the first
time. I am heading off to Boston next week to be with my daughter and will be
back mid-February. I will send pictures and of course bore you with all the stories
when I return.
Finally, I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday and New Year. See you soon.
Beth

K-Kids and Kiwanis Club of Lincoln Foothills Share the Holiday Spirit!
Contributed by Mary Luciano
K-Kids were busy in the month of December preparing the Holiday Gifts for their teachers and parents. Kids and the
Kiwanis of Lincoln Foothills put together ingredients to make a Christmas Cookie recipe.
Once the individual bags of ingredients were measured and wrapped, our K-Kids began assembling the ingredients for
the cookie recipe. Cookie ingredients and the recipe were placed in bags that had been decorated by the kids. Bags
were labeled and distributed to faculty members and taken home to families.
K-Kids were excited to hear from families who made the Cookie Recipe. A note was placed in each bag encouraging
receivers to make the cookies as a family project.

Membership Growth
Our Lt. Governor, Laird Smith, presented a "Membership Challenge" to Division 44. It's a Retention Plan
Challenge. The challenge is to show an increase in the number of net members as measured from 09-30-16 base
numbers. Winners have the opportunity to receive one of the "Top 4" levels of recognition.

April 1, 2017 Kiwanis One Day has become one o f the most important days on the Kiwanis ca lendar. That is because,
worldwide, Kiwanis clubs are showing off their best service work. What is Kiwanis One Day? It’s a day of service —
not fundraising or socializing.
The more hands we have helping, the more lives we will touch. Any project, big or small, is worth tackling. Projects
include anything from building playgrounds to volunteering at a shelter to stocking shelves at a food pantry.
Kiwanis One Day Pro jects Should:
Be hands-on.
Make a noticeable difference in your community.
Involve a majority of your club’s membership, prospective members and their families, as well as sponsored CKI,
Key Club, Builders and K-Kids Clubs.
Make an impact in your community that deserves news media coverage.
Raise awareness about your club and Kiwanis International.
Choose your service project and join Kiwanians worldwide for Kiwanis One Day, don’t miss out on being a part of
this day of global community service. Kiwanians will give more than one million volunteer hours on this special day
to improve their communities and the lives of children in countless nations.
