Well what a summer it has been. We have successfully held our kickstart draw, garnering more funds that we imagined. We have come together as a service group and triumphed over Covid-19. I couldn't be prouder. Give yourself a pat on the back!
Please remember with any of our activities if you are uncomfortable to participate because of the current health crisis it is understandable. DO NOT feel any pressure to participate. We want all our members to feel safe.
In this year with such uncertainty I would like to focus on membership. With the lower fee structure this would be a great year for people to join and try it out. I would like each one of you to talk to at least 1 person about becoming a Brussels Lions Club Member. With the Kickstart draw getting so much publicity this would be a great time to show people what we can do!
Happy Fall Brussels Lions!
As Covid has stunted our ability to meet, we discussed at the last director’s meeting to only have 1 meeting a month until January at which point the schedule will be revisited. Also, our fees will be reduced to $100 as we are not having meals. But as a welcome back gift the club will be paying for our first meeting, a Pizza Party at 6:30pm on September 14th at Lion Brian Kellers. Please don't forget about our special visit in our vests at 6pm before the meeting. If you have already forgotten please give me a call and I'll remind you.
Also, in September we have the Terry Fox Run which
Moving into September we have been invited to be in the Agricultural Society's Parade. The idea has been thrown around to not use our Christmas Float and to just use a truck which would cut down on the amount of people needed. If you are interested in helping prepare the float or walking in a Lions costume, please let me know. The Leos will be walking beside our float and have volunteered to wear the Lions costume if necessary.

Event Schedule -2020-2021This is a tentative schedule is subject to change at a moment’s notice due to the uncertainty of the effect
of the Covid-19 virus. You will be notified of any changes.
Nov. 9 Monday Member Meeting, details TBA.
Dec. 14 Monday Member Meeting, details TBA.
Sept. 14 Monday Member Meeting - Brian Keller’s shed. Pizza dinner.
Oct. 19 Monday Member Meeting, details TBA.
January to June - WHO KNOWS
§ We intend to practice all the health protocols as they emerge.
§ Locations will be determined as we go.
§ Meetings may not include a meal.
HOCKEY DRAWThe 2020-21 regular season already
has a tentative start date. Dec. 1 is being marked as the first night of play. If that date remains unchanged, training camps would begin on Nov. 17.
It would appear as if next season will have fewer games so some adjustments to the Brussels Lions Hockey Draw will need to be made.
One of the changes we are considering making is to the Loser Prizes. Instead of 5, we would give out 1 - $100.00 Loser Prize for each 100 people entered into the draw. Last year we had 746 entries in the draw so that would have resulted in 7 - $100.00 loser prizes.
Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
