HEAD’S NEWS
It was lovely to see so many of you at our recent parents’ eve-
nings. The feedback received was positive and I am thankful to
the teaching team for providing such detailed and focused
information to help you work with your child and help them to
learn and grow.
We are keen to speak with all parents, so if you were unable to
attend for some reason, we will make contact in the coming
weeks.
We want to hear your views about our school. Please see how
to access the questionnaire on the reverse of this letter.
We have had a busy few weeks with lots of different sporting
events including Cross Country meets, our first Swimming Gala
of the year and more football and netball matches. These
sporting activities are reported in full in our Termly Match
Reports — do have a look at them as the results our children
achieve are fantastic.
Have a great couple of weeks and enjoy the onset of spring.

WORLD BOOK DAY
On Friday, 4th March (one day late due to the Parents’ Evening) the
school celebrated World Book Day.
It was fantastic to see such a wide range of characters come to life for
the day at the school. We had lots of Harry Potters, Hermione Graingers
and Where’s Wallies attending for the day, but also the Cat in the Hat,
the Mad Hatter, some Oompa Loompas, Alice in Wonderland, Thing 1
and Thing 2, Cruella de Vil, Queen of Hearts, Fantastic Mr Fox, Violet
Beauregarde, BFGs, Tin Tins and many, many more.
Lots of the staff joined in dressed as Witches, Tigger, a Dalmatian, Miss
Honey, Mrs Wormwood, Miss Trunchbull, Mr Stink, and we even had
Goldilocks and the Three Bears spending the day in Year 4!
The school was run for the day by Harry Potter and Madame Hooch! 2
MARCH—EXTREME READING MONTH
Children and staff are invited to send in a photo of
themselves reading a book in “extreme” conditions —
nothing too dangerous — maybe having climbed to the
top of a mountain, dangling from a tree, sitting under
the water or ….. you get the idea!
Send your photo in to school, making sure you have
written your name and class on the back, before the
deadline of Friday, 31st March.
The competition will be judged and prizes awarded just
before we break for the Easter holidays.
Reading Scheme Books—a plea!!!
Please can all parents have a hunt
around at home to see if they can find
any of the school’s reading scheme boos
(the ones with the stickers on the spine)
as we seem to have lots missing.
They can be deposited in Reception to
avoid any naming and shaming!!

Feet First Dance Fest
On Wednesday 8th of March, 25 Year 5 pupils took part in
the exciting event Feet First Dance Fest. This dance festival
was a celebration of different dance styles and featured
performances from local primary and secondary schools.
The Year 5s performed a routine to the song 'Rockabye'
which featured lots of moves choreographed by the
children, including breakdance. The children really put their
all into their performance and rose to the
exhilarating atmosphere created by the coloured spotlights
and large audience. They also did the school proud with
their behaviour, showing fantastic support for the other
schools when they were watching their performances.
To the left you will see some photos from the event.
There is also a video on the school website!

In The Net
On Monday, 6th March, Year 4 walked to St Edwards School. We went
there to learn about how to be safe on the internet. We learnt that if you
are mean to someone on the internet it can hurt as much as saying it to
someone in person. We also learnt that you should not take pictures of
yourself in school uniform and then post it on Twitter or Facebook.
If anything strange pops up on the internet then you turn the monitor off
or shut the screen. Go and get an adult and they will sort it out.
We heard a story about a girl called Dotty who had just got a new iPad
for her birthday. She was 7 years old and was mean to people on the
internet and got sucked into the Net through her journey to find the
guardian. On her journey she met Virus and Spam, not very nice people
who pretended to be her friend. Their nasty behaviour taught her not to
be mean to people and to be very careful with people she doesn’t know
but who say they want to be friends.
After a while Dotty got sucked out of the Net and when she got home
she asked her dad to delete her profile photo because this showed her
in her school uniform. The next day she went into school to apologise to
the children she had been mean to.

Stay Safe On The Net
and always tell an adult if
you are worried about
something or somebody.
VERY IMPORTANT
NOTICE FOR ALL
PARENTS/CARERS
Children should have a PE kit
in school all the time - this is a house coloured t-shirt, shorts and pumps kept in a draw-
string bag. On Games days they need to bring in trainers, a sweatshirt and tracksuit bot-
toms and this all goes home the same day, as it might get very muddy.
We welcome donations of PE kit that pupils have grown out of for those occasions when children forget .
Please can you make sure that all items children have in school - sports kit, coats,
uniform, equipment, lunch bags, water bottles and personal belongings are
CLEARLY named.
Parent Survey
As a school we are always looking for ways we can improve and make our school even better. We would love to hear your views about what we do well and what we could do better.
We would like to invite you to complete a survey to help us find out your thoughts. Please go to the school website where you will find, under the ‘Parents’ tab, a link on the left-hand side called, 2017 Parent Survey.
Many thanks for taking the time to do this.
