Green Darners are one of our largest dragonflies, and one of the easiest to recognize.
Also Green Darners are
dimorphic which means
the male and females
look different.
Their body grows over 3
inches long and has a
wing span of 4 ½ inches.
The Damselfly is
talented enough to
tuck their wings onto
their back, but they
cannot walk.
Their front and
back wings
move at
different times
so they can
stop and
change
direction in air
as well as flying up to 30 miles
an hour.
An adult Red – breasted
Merganser is about 51–62
cm (20–24 in) long, also
there wing span is 70–86 cm
(28–34 in) long.
A Red- breasted Merganser are a species of
bird that have a spiky crest and a long thin
bill, the Red Breasted Merganser is found in
large lakes and in the ocean. The Red
Breasted Merganser seems to like salt water
to fresh water more then the other species
of mergansers.
The Grey Plover, A.K.A
the Black-bellied Plover
lives in North America.
The Black plovers are
long distance migrants
which mean when
Black Plovers migrate
for winter they fly far far
away.
Black plovers are the
largest species of
plovers in North America.
The River Otter have special glands to
mark their territory, also the River Otter
eats on
fish, amphibians, snakes, insects, frogs, a
nd turtles.
Since seals do not
migrate in some places
they are around all
year. The snout is blunt
and because harbor
seals spend so much
time underwater its
nostrils adapted to shut.
So now they have V-
shaped nostrils!
Males grow to be
about 1.4 to 2.0 m
long and 70 to 170
kg.
Woman grow to be
about 1.2 to 1.7 m and 50 to 150 kg.
Estuarine Crocodiles
can be found in a lot
of different habitats
like rivers, estuaries,
creeks, swamps,
lagoons and billabongs.
During the cooler months in the northern
territory of Australia, crocodiles are
sometimes seen sun bathing on open mud banks.
Most of the animals in an estuary live in the sea, but quite a lot of the animals in an estuary live on land.
Candiru’s are a kind of fish in Brazilian estuaries and river’s ( Amazon River )
They are very dangerous fish they measure length wise to be 40cm long (16 inches).
Candiru’s have been known to attack people when they are urinating.
Candiru’s like the warmth of your urine so they climb up your penis and can cause very serious damage.
Native Little Necked
are found from the
Aleatian islands to
Baja California even
though they are
usually a lot of them
only north of Oregon.
Little neck clams
have separate
sexes. They mature
at between 22 to
33mm or 2-3 years of age.
Hermit crabs return to
the sea to lay their
eggs. Due to that
they can not breed in
homes or animal
shelters, they need to be near the sea.
Hermit Crabs have
been heard
making croaking
noises people are
still trying to figure
out if croaking is a
kind of communication
The Hooded
Nudibranch can
grow up to be 10
cm long, 2.5cm
wide and 5cm
across the hood.
When the hooded
Nudibranch is
pulled out of
water it gives off a
sweet fruity smell.
The Hooded Nudibranch
is a carnivore. Once they
feel their prey the edges
of the tentacles overlap,
which then holds the
prey and pushes it into
the mouth.
Purple Shore Crabs can
be found under rocks,
they can be found on
the west cost of North
America from Alaska to Baja in Mexico.
This crab eats sea lettuce and other green
algae and occasionally they eat dead animals.
Skeleton Shrimps
A.K.A Ghost Shrimp
or Caprellidae are a
type of shrimp.
Mating: Mating only
occurs when the
female is between
the new and hardened exoskeleton.
Skeleton Shrimp are
easy to recognize
due to their slender like body.
Henricia leviuscula A.K.A Blood Starfish or
Blood Star is a species of starfish found
along the pacific coast of North America.
Blood Starfish are usually identified by there bright orange-red colour.
Blood Stars usually get to
be about 8cm in diameter and rarely gets over 12cm
Macoma nasuta A.K.A
The Bent- nosed Clam or
The Bent-nose Macoma
is often found buried in
sand about 10-20 cm
high. The bent nose
clam is commonly
mistaken for Macoma
Tersa or Macoma Kelseyi
I hope you enjoyed my presentation and
thank you for every body that watched.
And also a special thanks to
Google, Wikipedia and other
web sites for giving me
information about all the
animals I chose.
