Unit 5 Class Syllabus Acupuncture, Meditation, and Yoga Course Syllabus General Information Instructor: Charles Denisar Email: [email protected] Course Meetings: Monday October 5, 2015, Wednesday October 7, 2015, & Friday October 9, 2015 1000-1130 each day Credit Hours: TBD Course Description This course will be used to increase your knowledge on three affective but very different medians of alternative medicine. I will be covering the basics of Acupuncture as to where it came from, why it is used in today’s society, and if it has become something relied on by traditional doctors. Meditation will be look at in the same way. Where did it originate, why is it used, and is it leaned on by today’s doctors. Finally we have Yoga, again we will cover where it is from originally, gain a greater knowledge for a few of the many arts available today, and whether or not it is recommended for people from those seen as traditional practitioners. Course Prerequisites None Course Objectives 1. To understand where the art of Acupuncture originated from and why it is still in use today. 2. To discover whether this is a practice that is accepted and relied upon by traditional doctors. 3. To decipher just where meditation originated from and why is it used today 4. To determine if meditation is seen as beneficial by todays medical professionals 5. To learn where Yoga originated and learn of some of the variations used 6. To discover whether or not traditional practitioners send their patient’s for such treatments Required Materials Pen and Notebook Recommended Materials Laptop with wireless capability Grading Scale: 0-100 Grading will be based upon a cumulative score of tests, quizzes, and participation
