After a visit by a support worker you will be assigned an experienced trained visitor, who will visit for 1 hour a week at a mutually decided time. The visits are solely for company and to check that all is well. The visitor will not be expected to do shopping, cleaning or other odd jobs. His or her time will be devoted purely to social conversation, to read to you or to play a board game. However, if you do have any concerns or problems, these can be discussed briefly with the visitor who can make an appointment for a support worker to call to help you further.
All visitors assigned will have been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau at Enhanced Level.

Volunteers
We operate a volunteering policy.
The Over 60’s Community Service would not be able to run without the dedication and support of the volunteers
who give their time freely. They are valued team members and help in all aspects of the Service.
Volunteering can be very rewarding.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call
01227 456616 and you will be invited for an informal chat with the Manager.
Mileage and some expenses will be paid.
You must be over 18 years of age, agree to be checked
through Criminal Records Bureau, provide two references and have an empathy with the elderly.
You might like to become a committee member or be a befriender, a shopper or help with transport if you drive a car. You might like to help out at a lunch club becoming a welcoming host or running activities. If you help at a lunch club you will receive a subsidised lunch. We are always looking for volunteers that can give any amount of time and who could maybe offer a new skill to our team.
