‘He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of
Christ Jesus’ – Philippians 1:6
Charing and District Local History
Society have donated a book to all
of the pupils at Charing School to
commemorate WW1. The book is
entitled ‘Charing in the First
World War’. This is a great
souvenir for the children and will
help them to understand the
great commitment that so many
made for our freedom today.
THANK YOU
Please don’t forget Rabbits and Squirrels
performances are on Tuesday 11th December at 2pm
and Wednesday 12th December at 9.30am.
Mrs Borthwick has decided to take retirement and will be leaving at Christmas. Mrs Borthwick has been working at the school since April 1996 and is currently the longest serving member of staff. We want to take this moment to thank her for all her hard work and time she has given to the school over the years and we wish her all the best
for the future and a happy retirement. She will be missed. Information about her collection will be announced shortly. The closing date to succeed her is next Friday.

This week at Charing CE Primary School
This week Rabbits Class have been learning about money. We have looked at different coins and their value. In YR, we had lots of practise playing shopping
games and in Y1 we have used different coins to find totals. In English this week, our story has been all about dinosaurs at school. Y1 have been using
question marks to write questions and YR have learnt some new sounds and are beginning to blend sounds for reading. We have also been busy this week
making dinosaur tails and masks, ready for dinosaur day this Friday. Please keep sending in small and medium cardboard boxes and tubes for our junk modelling box. We are getting quite low again!
Squirrels class Year 2 have been learning about money this week and have been practising making amounts using coins. In our topic learning, the children have completed writing, imagining they are an insect and describing their habitat. Next week in Art we will be creating our habitats; so if any parents could bring in any boxes,
toilet rolls etc that would be greatly appreciated.
This week, Foxes have been investigating how to find and compare fractions, along with continuing to work hard on learning
multiplication facts. English has seen the publication of some amazing newspaper reports based on events in our class book. We are
also starting to design our own Viking longboats to help Arthur travel to the land of the Norse Gods so that he can engage Thor's help to save his
village!!
Badgers have been busy writing an informal letter and being budding poets in
English this week. In Maths, we have practised our long multiplication and
division skills. We are enjoying learning about forces in Science and this week we
have learned about friction. In Topic, we have looked at the effects of flooding
and ways to prevent this. In RE, we have been looking at the book of Matthew
and identifying how Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Messiah. After all this
hard work, we are really looking forward to our pantomime trip next week!
This week in Owls, we have been continuing to look at fractions:
finding the common denominator; adding and subtracting. In
English, we have been looking at the use of colons and getting closer
to the end of Private Peaceful - what will happen to Tommo and
Charlie? In topic, we looked at the use of animals in World War 1.
Don’t forget the spelling test every Friday!
