I would like to do a SPECIAL THANKS to Nora Kate Hyatts mom, Paula Hyatt, who has worked for the past few months and es- pecially the last 10 days writing & editing the catalog. Paula is one talented person and I am so grateful for her writing gifts as well as her attention to detail. Way to go, Paula! YOU ROCK!! A couple of times I thought we were done for, but we came back! Congratulations to our whole team. What a great feeling!Sixth Grader Colton Jepsen: This was my first year doing Brain Bowl. I wanted to join because Im smart and I know a lot of trivia. My favorite part of Brain Bowl was answering more than anyone. I get most of my trivia that I know from the Am- azon Alexa. I like knowing facts and I can just ask Alexa, tell me a science fact.I ask questions about random things like sports and how many epi- sodes are in a TV show (Fun fact...the longest running TV show is “60 Minutes”) I felt good when we were undefeat- ed after our last competition.

LENTEN PROJECTS

Kindergarten: We are collecting money for our Rice Bowls, but we have to EARN the money...raking leaves and helping clean around the house.

Second Grade We are doing the “No screen time for 30 minutes a night” project!

Third Grade: We are making paper mache rice bowls and discussing what we can give more of...writing more cards and letters, etc. and what sacrifices we can make for lent.

Fourth Grade: We are doing the Lenten Challenge and would like to cut down on our electronics

Fifth Grade: We created book marks and we wrote on them what we were doing for fasting, almsgiving and prayer. We also created daily journals so we can re-flect on what we did the day before. We created a poster with our feet (Mrs. Beals put paint on our feet) to show our Lenten journey.

Sixth Grade: We are working on limiting our electron-ics. We have to fill out a journal every week and our parents sign it.

Seventh Grade: We are doing bags for 40 days again this year. All of the students will be bringing in hy-giene and treat items for Easter bags that will be brought to St. Vincent de Paul.

Eighth Grade We will be collecting 40 cans of food for St. Vincent de Paul.

Lenten Challenge is from 2/26 to 4/1 We are working in collaboration with Sacred Heart Church ~ Challenging the kids and their families to spend at least 30 minutes of their day without any electronics to engage with each other, the community, and be present with God. ~ This is an optional, but highly encouraged challenge. ~ Logs are sent home every Wednesday for parents to complete and sign for the week (Wednesday to Wednesday) documenting the activities they did instead of electronics and for how long. We have had a number of logs turned in which has been great to see. ~ We want the kids and families to keep up the great work meeting this challenge.
