CHARACTER ANALYSIS

Page 2: Character analysis

FEMALE CHARACTERTuesday- Is the main female character who has found out she is pregnant I have chosen to cast her as I think she fits the role well as she is 17 years old this helps her fit in to character as she can make a close connection with the character as she could imagine what it would be like to be in that position. She is a good actress she took her role and created her own character while discussing it with us which ended up working well seen as we had to change our actors 2 days prior to filming as the others could not do it, the script Tuesday used was improvised as we only gave her the background of what was needed to say which was then adjusted between the two actors I believe this worked well as it made it more realistic and is a common convention for the genre.

costume- the clothing she wore did fit in with the stereotypical teenage 'chav' however it was not what we had first discussed, she wore a hoodie which was necessary as its very stereotypical and is the main item of clothing which is stereotyped with chavs, the colour was purple which worked well as it showed her feminine side, the hood played a key part as it empathized the type of look she was going for. The leather jacket is stereotyped of being ‘hard’ and with people with attitude so this helps build up her character, the was wearing converse which are a very popular brand showing that she has money, the floral shirt works as its bold and stands out suggesting she is a confident person to wear something like that. Overall I think the character and costume work well together to create the concept I want I also think it will relate well with the male character, if I could improve my character then I would give her bolder makeup to make her stand out more however I am happy with the way the character worked out.

MALE CHARACTERGeorge- is the main male character, I chose him for this character as in the audition he stood out the most as a ‘cheeky chap’ which I thought would give a good twist to the character as he is very humorous which subverts the stereotypical chav as they are seen as all ways having a stern exterior however this character has a twist and gets the point through that an individual is different to their stereotype. Again he improvised on the script which worked out well as it made it sound more realistic and gave it a natural feel. The emotion connected well with the storyline.

Costume-the costume I decided is plain but effective the hoodie again is the key aspect of it showing immaturity and Is stereotypical for teens it is modern and will connect with the audience, a plain t-shirt is worn underneath as the other parts of the costume are key. The jeans worn are casual but make the character look more innocent than wearing trackies as that is very stereotypical, the shoes worn are again all star converse which is a branded product which is popular with the target audience. Overall I find this outfit effective even though it is different to my mood board. I think this works as good because stereotypes also change and I believe the hoodie is the most important aspect of the chav stereotypical costume.
