I have been very dissapointed with the chapter because of apparent lack of encouragement to Project managers who are not IT centric to be given fairopportunity in IT dominated world of Project managers within Minnesota.
It will not be paid for
Because I have got no support/ response from the chapter.
We pay a yearly fee and then a fee for every meeting, for folks with employers reimbersing that is easy, for folks like me who are doing this on their own, itbecomes untainable.
Not ready to join this club.
I receieved my PMP cert as part of my personal development, joining the chapter was part of the costs. Other than the emails, I don't believe I received anywelcome information or basic information on the chapter to invite new members to participate
Most of the meetings I attended seemed to be heavily focused on IT which is not my function. The cost is also a consideration. I belong to other associationsthat I do attend regularly. Those associations charge an annual fee, but no fee to attend the monthly meetings. They also push out email reminders to me ofthe upcoming meetings so I'm always aware of them...I just don't remember to check PMI-MN's website to find out about the next meeting and I don't get anyadvance notice about the meetings to remind me.
Not enough opportunities for networking, the amount of traffic I have to deal with to get to some events, along with the cost.
I'm in the process of relocating to Colorado. If I join a local chapter again it will likely be in Denver.
I do not see much value in my membership
The benefits of having the membership don't come close to the high cost for the membership.
I feel this membership does not help in my industry. Im in Construction and the vast majority of people using and communication on this are not in a relatedfield.
There is very little I get access to that is covered by the fees. Everything seems to have additional costs to participate.
Getting ready to retire and the focus of my job has shifted away from project management
Not satisfied with PMI
The value of the fee v what I get out of it doesn't match up.

I have attempted to contact leaders within PMI-MN to get questions answered and I must say it is hit or miss. Sometimes the responses exceed myexpectations and other times, I never receive a response from the person I am trying to contact. There really needs to be some sort of SLA set for whenchapter members are reaching out for help and when leaders are expected to respond. I should not have to follow up multiple times to get an answer.
I am not usually able to attend events on the west side of the Twin Cites. Bloomington is doable as it it sort of central, but Golden Valley is not doable.
No way to go back and review/change answers?
Perhaps the questions were worded with too many assumptions about your PMI base.
None
Great chapter and great events. Love the PDD which is an annual event
I'm very energized and happy to be part of this organziation at this early stage of my transition.
I would like the local chapter to help me in getting through the PMP certification test and to network with other PMs.
I used to attend chapter meetings/educational forums more frequently, but the locations currently are not at all convenient. When will there be offerings inMpls/first tier suburbs again?
I am not currently active, so my information about events is unknown--too busy to go to chapter events, usually.
It's hard to attend evening meetings when they are in the west metro, has the chapter considered splitting into two chapters? One metro-west and one metro-east? It seems to be large enough to consider.
Twice I have volunteered for the mentor/mentee program and was told I could participate in the program and have never been contacted. Leadership doesnot seem to have a goal of improving the services the various teams provide, or in ensuring our resources are carefully managed. The services that PMI-MNcontracts for are sub-standard and no one from leadership seems to be doing anything about it - or not taking the time to educate themselves on the failings.
I may have unfairly ranked this survey as I am just getting involved in PMI
I would like to volunteer but because of family, work, and travels, I can do so on a very limited basis. I have always wanted to volunteer but am not sure if Ican give it the time the MN Chapter deserves. If I can be of any help remotely (from my house) like administration, data gathering, or data collating, let meknow.
I am not involved with the MN chapter, but appreciate the newletters and website for keeping in touch with the local chapter.
I am currently not a very active member. I would like more educational opportunities in varied locations. I know that's hard to do as venues can be expensive.
Please explain the point of asking for age. I decline to answer until I know how this information will be used by PMI-MN.
More timely emails on upcoming events. Or more email communication about the events to take advantage of the early bird discount.
I wish more of the chapter events were on the east side of the Twin Cities and I don't consider Bloomington to be on the east side of town.
I have been very satisfied with my PMI MN membership and the opportunity to obtain PDU's to maintain my PMO certification. I volunteered for the first timeat PMI MN PDD days last year and it was very organized. I was able to network and receive PDU's for volunteering at the day long seminars. It was a greatexperience!
Would like to volunteer time - I have approached the chapter multiple times, but have not received any encouraging response.
I'm glad there are meetings that are in a better location for me, but it's such a time commitment - an entire evening that I just can't give.
I think the website needs to be revamped to be easier to use and find information.
Please continue to have dinner meetings in the bloominton area. Thanks.
I have inquired about voluteer opportunities twice in the past, once at a chapter meeting and once online. Unfortunately, I didn't get a response in eitherinstance. I would be more active, but it seems that most of the Twin Cities chapter events are on the far east side of the metro. This is a difficult location forfolks from the west side.
PMP prep class I took was a joke at preparing you for the test
The cost of the member events (dinners/breakfasts/speakers) is difficult for me as I am just starting out in my career.
-- I am currently unemployed.-- I rated neutrally because I've just recently joined the MN chapter of PMI and have no experience with it yet.I suggest you add a "n/a" or "no opinion" radio button.

Location is sometimes a factor in attending local events.
I am new to the Minnesota Chapter therefore, I cannot provide objective answers to the survey questions. My experience with the Chapter is less than amonth and I've not been to any meetings, presentations, or other events to evaluate them. I also have not had a chance to meet and interact with the Chapterleadership team. Therefore, my respond to some of the questions is neutral. Hope you understand where I come from. Thanks.
Wish our chapter was more dynamic and professional both in leadership and in quality of speakers. You are not getting the cream of the crop but those whohave the time. The most talentedf are in high demand and will need to b e sought out to lead and present.
PMI-MN is a very good chapter. Keep up the good work!
It would have been nice to either screen out people who had been a member <1 year or offer some N/A type options. Also the length of the survey felt about 4- 5 questions too long
The issue with the chapter is the location and timing of many of their events and the lack of notice for special events. I think it has become too big to addressthe needs of all and the focus is on the metropolitan area rather than the whole state.
There are some benefits i have not used, so i rated them as neutral - it would be nice to have a "haven't used" option.
I am new to PMI and the MN chapter and have just started exploring offerings. Haven't been to an in person event yet so some areas I can't yet offerfeedback on. Planning to attend June chapter dinner. Would be nice if dinner was occasionally on other days of the week as hard to attend if have priorcommitment. Varying day of the week for requiring events may allow different people an ability to come.
The current chapter is heavily focused on IT and software PM. I would like to see more Product Development and R&D topics
No questions on meeting locations.
I would like more webinars/webexs as time and money are both precious.
Would like to see more dinner meeting topics on hard skills, not all soft skills stuff.
I wish you would move the meeting locations around. Plymouth is not convenient for south and east metro. I wish we could do some in the north metro, somein the east,, some in the west and some in the south. I would attend more if I didnt have to drive 1 1/2 hours to attend. I would also appreciate more webthings.
PMI MN should have more online events for those that cannot attend onsite with work and logistic challenges.
We have high security at our company. I get frustrated when I cannot get to one of you links. I am surprised I was able to link to this survey
Lack of awareness of local chapter activities for new members
I have been out of town for few years so am interested to get reengaged. I travel and am in town Thursday night, Friday and Saturdays.
The Mn Chapter has done a great job!
I am very new to PMI and have not taken the time to understand the MN chapter as yet.
I just joined PMI and the Minnesota Chapter, so I have very little data upon which to evaluate. I will know more as I participate and avail myself to servicesover time.
Provide more opportunities for networking, please consider having more than one monthly get together in locations that are convenient for members.
I believe PMI-MN offers a lot of valuable servicies, but I've found it difficult to find them.
Chapter interest group events seemed to be geared for entry level PMs.
The cost of the membership is too high. The benefits are not all that great. Based upon my experience thus far, I do not plan on renewing my membership.
It would be helpful if events for IT professionals were publicized as such. I'm not in IT, so it's usually a waste of my time to go to events, only to discover theyare for IT.
i have not as yet been very involved but i do plan on doing moore in the nere future
The reason that my responses are rather erratic is because I am physically located in Bismarck, ND, which is six hours from the main chapter base, and 3hours away from the Fargo chapter that sometimes hosts events. There is nothing available on weekends in Fargo that I could attend, nor are there anywebinars or online group discussions that I can participate in. I am basically a member just for the newsletters.
It would be nice to have a calendar of PM-related events that are NOT sponsored by PMI-MN. For example, Life Science Alley recently put on an excellentall-day seminar about project management in the medical device industry. Other industry-specific events may also be taking place, and it would be helpful ifPMI-MN provided a mechanism for members to report those events and have them listed in the monthly newsletters and/or the events page of the website.
Please don't ask for my age, these days a sensitive issue.
Although it took a little longer to get my login information, but they were very swift upon contact.
To be honest sometimes I am too busy to attend and read all of the PMI and PMI MN materials.
Here is what I would like to see and maybe you have it: An EXPERT to bounce things off of, offer some sort of MS Project certification sessons.
The seminars aren't available for online attendance, as webinars. Other organizations, such as Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers, provide onlineaccess to all seminars. The recorded seminar is also posted on the MSPE Chapter website for later attendance too. I really appreciate this level ofavailability. I will PMI would do the same.
The dinner meetings are a missed opportunity. We attend to get the PDU, but the speakers are addressing topics at a surface level and primarily promotingtheir own agendas.
I wish that the opportunity for internship is provided. And have multiple meeting sections time.
I think the chapter does a nice job and if anything I find it hard to make time to attend more sessions. I do try to attend the PDD every year and that issomething of value to keep up on PDU's. I would like to see more opportunities to earn "free" Pdu's if possible.
Get rid of the "frames" on the website.
The time between signing up for PMI.org membership and attaining a working set of credentials for the MN PMI website was nearly a month.
I have called in for mentoring to help me transistion into another industry since the industry I was in failed (construction) but no one has returned my call. Iwas under the impression that by joining the chapter I would recieve support!
Chapter membership is mandatory but I do not see a lot of value by being a member.
I have only been a member for a couple of months and have not been able to take full advantage of all the Minnesota chapter has to offer. I am lookingforward to becoming more involved as time progresses.
I have not been attending PMI MN events lately, but I usually read through the dinner and breakfast events to look for interesting topics.
Would like more mentorship opportunites.
I really don't take advantage of the Chapter's services so I have limited experience on which to be satisfied or dissatisfied.
You should add a Satisfied column to your survey. You have Very Satisfied, which to me means I'm overly excieted about it, or Somewhat Satisfied which tome means somewhat negative. I'm neither, I'm just satisfied with the chapter in a positive way.
I have not yet attended any events. New job, busy, events seem rather expensive.
Would be good to have PM oppertunitis with in the chapter geographical area
The chapter is very much a clique. Friends of the leadership get to present or get selected for events over others who are very qualified and who have offeredto volunteer. There are also many layers of red tape to go through in order to volunteer for events or for an event to take place. There is lots ofmiscommunication and confusion. This is primarily with the Local Interest Groups and Seminars.
I haven't got a chance to participate in the Minnesota chapter as yet due to personal priorities, hence I would not like my responses to be counted (There wasno option NA.).
The Minnesota Chapter has the opportunity to increase membership and attendance of events if they considered changing their dinner meeting schedule toaccommodate more people. Changing the location of the dinner meetings every other month has been well received, however, a common complaint aboutthe dinner meetings is that they are always on Mondays.
I believe that a pilot should be done to evaluate if there is greater participation at dinner meetings on Fridays. Changing the day of the dinner meeting toFriday may be more beneficial because most people do not have to wake up early the next morning to go to work. Instead of people rushing out after a dinnermeeting, members may partake more in the socialization process that really should be occurring in order for members to feel a connection to other membersof the organization.
I have been hesitant to attend frequently due to the negative experience that I had when I attended a new member orientation. My Monday nights are also achallenge due to family scheduling. My goal is to get into a regular attendance to take more advantage of what the chapter has to offer. The cost was also abit prohibitive in the past.
none
Refer students to PMI continuosly as part of teaching Project & Program Mgt courses.
When volunteering, I felt like there was some over planning and confusing aspects of how the PMI-MN chapter is run. The events are expensive as well.
I wish there had been opportunities for mentoring when I was more active in the organization. I feel it would have made me a better PM faster, and I wouldhave made it more of my profession. Taking classes doesn't "get you there."
More webinars could be organized.

I would love to attend either the chapter dinners or breakfasts but they are all held in the south. It would be great if they could rotate around the city. Includingthe North Metro or at least, north Minneapolis.
The only reason everything isn't marked outstanding is that the meetings prior to the dinner meeting are very cliquish and the leadership could do more to getout and welcome those who don't come as often. If that is done they might become regular attendees and volunteers.
Meetings/functions on Mondays are tough to attend in my industry, it seems Mondays are prove to "firefighting" actions and often trump my availablity toattend Monday nite events. perhaps some variety, or perhaps global issues will shift from their weekend habit
Few opportunities for those jumping industries to establish presence and credibility.
Keep up the good work - MN PMI is a class act!
A lot of events seem to being held in Plymouth lately. I live on the south end of the metro and it's very hard for me to get to the events so I miss them a lot.Can we have more events held near the airport, St. Paul, etc.?
none
I haven't taken full advantage of PMI-MN's offerings over the years so my responses should be taken in that light.
This chapter's membership has been heavily skewed towards IT over the years. It would be interesting to experiment with a few events whose focus isconstruction or aerospace/defense to attract more members from those sectors.
I have not been active in the MN Chapter, so I apologize, but, my responses are not helpful.
Would like to see less IT topics - more on engineer/build/commission large equipment
I couldn't give the right response for many of the options because, I Still haven't started using the Minnesota Chapter services and facilities.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. Your feedback will be kept completely confidential. The collective output of chapter members’ responses will be reviewed by PMI’s Chapter Member AdvisoryGroup, a volunteer group that advises on the future direction of the Community Development Department, aswell as your local leadership and will be used to enhance chapter services.
