September-October, 20152015 – 2016 Scholarship Prospective Nominee / Applicant:The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of nearly 14,000 professional women of color in 281 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
For more than thirty nine years, the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has recognized the academic achievement, leadership and community involvement of extraordinary high school students in Broward County. Students from minority populations are strongly encouraged to attend.
Historically students in the past who have participated in this program go on to attend a wide range of accredited schools from the nation’s top universities and state colleges to local trade school programs. Many are first generation high school graduates and/or college attendees. This program is open to ALL Broward County High School Seniors in the Class of 2016 who will be eligible for a potential scholarship by attendance to ALL three workshops and submitting a Portfolio as required. See page 3 for additional criteria and details.
The Fort Lauderdale (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is committed to helping students expand their knowledge and encourage further educational pursuits.
There will be three workshops and White Rose Scholarship Program Finale. The workshops will be on: 1. Orientation and It’s time for College and Career Readiness! 2. Informational Workshop: Portfolio, Broward County has Talent and Dress Rehearsal. 3. Black Lives Matter (available to students in grades 9 th
thru 12th). These workshops will be held on SUNDAY in November 8, 2015, December 13, 2015 and January 10, 2016. Applicants are requested and encouraged to attend all three workshops. The following information is required:1. __ Complete the attached Scholarship Program Application.
Note: Student and Parent(s)/Guardian(s) must review and sign a complete and accurate application.2.__Provide student’s official, sealed, most current high school transcript including cumulative GPA (weighted and unweighted).3.__ Enclose a recent photograph; clear, dressy head shot with a light background.
4.__ Student and Parent(s)/Guardian(s) must review and sign the provided Information for Publication Release Form.
5.__ Mail complete application, required forms and documents - postmarked no later than October 31, 2015. Submission of applications may also be brought to the first workshop if not mailed by 10/31 /15. An inaccurate, incomplete, or plagiarized application may result in disqualification.

FOR CLASS OF 2016 HIGH SCHOOL SENIORSGraduating High School Seniors in the Class of 2016 ENROLLING IN COLLEGE, VOCATIONAL – TRADE SCHOOLS FOR FALL TERM 2016, must attend all three workshops provided by the Scholarship Committed of The Fort Lauderdale (FL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and present a PERSONAL PORTFOLIO to be eligible for a possible scholarship. This Portfolio should document your academic, community service, leadership, extracurricular activities, essay, and two (2) letters of recommendation for the Committee to review. See criteria below for submitting a portfolio which does include GPA.
The completion of a portfolio is established by the criteria listed below, in that participants must complete the Portfolio by January 10, 2016. The preferred method in portfolios should be after a workshop meeting, unless other arrangements are made with the Committee. Participants may include pictures, programs, certificates, medals, creative designs and for turning other materials to express their achievement and participation for the categories listed below.
The portfolio must include the following:Portfolio Presentation:
