Director's Report

Well, the riding season is about kaput. October ispretty much the end of our road adventures for thisyear. Thesummer went by so fast. I felt like I waswriting a report every couple of weeks instead ofonce a month. I hope everyone got plenty of saddletime. rJl pass the 11,000mile mark for the seasonbut still feel like I didn't ride as much as I wanted. Awet, cold spring followed by a very hot July kept meoff the bike more than usual. I spent last Sundayafternoon and most of Monday on what was probablymy last trip of any distance for this year. I rode withBernie to western Minnesota to pick up a part for hisclassic car. Yes,he could have had the part shippedto him, but what fun would that has been. Weput onabout 700 miles and even with a little rain it was stilla good ride.

ThePatriot Ride on September 1st was amoving experience for me. This is the 2'd time I haveridden it. Hopefully Jim will post some pictures foryou. It sounds like they would like to do another onenext year. The chapter meeting September!fh was alittle light on attendance. I hope we can improve onthat. The Sept lIJ1bChapter picnic got rained on butwe still had seven bikes make the ride. (I shortenedit a little due to the rain) A few members drove in bycar. The food at the Quarry Lodge was excellent. Many thanks to Daryl for setting it up.

The October ride schedule sounds like fun.October 2'd will be Jim's Willie WhopperRide to.Colesburg. Bring your appetite!! Saturday, OctoberIJIbis the Dealership ride to benefit the NortheastIowa family chosen in Extreme Makeover: HomeEdition. The $20 donation includes a Tshirt. Theride's destination will be the site of the new home, which is not yet public knowledge. Please pre-register for this ride by October 1st with Karri Mahr at563-568-3471. The October HOGChapter meeting isalso Saturday the IJIbat 1PM in the conference roomat the Yamahastore. October IIh is the fall colorride. I'm hearing predictions that the lJ'hlllhwill bethe peak weekend for the leaves this year. TheDealership is planning a Halloween Open House forOctober 1$h. Watch for the flyerslemails. Lynn hasplanned a Halloween ride for the 22'd. Crossyourfingers that the weather will cooperate.

As a Chapter, we managed to get in somevery enjoyable rides this season. I hope you wereable to make some of them. If you didn't, you stillhave a couple of chances left. Comeon out and

enjoy the fellowship and fun. Wealways have a goodtime. I'm sure Jim will have the latest schedule foryou in this newsletter. And always remember, birthdays are good for you. Themore you have, thelonger you live.

Happy Riding,
