Mississippi Valley 2

All of the maps, with the exception of Carney's Delta blues study, focus on the United States as a whole. Country music maps are dominant with emphasis on the distribution and diffusion of radio programming, live performances, and magazine circulation. A variety of other music styles are covered including Horsley's gospel groups, Murray's rock 'n' roll, and Carney's jazz and blues studiese Rehder's cultural geography seminar provides the reader with a sampling of music tastes and preferences ranging from Tommy Dorsey to Dolly Parton in the artist group and from white gospel to western swing in the style category°

Maps illustrating dance styles are still practically negligible.

Deficiencies still exist in all aspects of classical music, instrumentation, and local variations within urban centers. We need more maps portraying regional variations in country music styles and ethnic music. Where are the maps of polka music for the Upper Midwest and mariachi bands for the Rio Grande Valley?
