Sixth commandment

• When the terror caused by the executions died some of the animals remembered the sixth commandment decreed, “No animal shall kill eachother”

• At that time it was felt that the killings which had taken place did not square with this.

• Now after the executions, Clover is uneasy that one of the seven commandment has been broken.

• Clover fetched Muriel to read her the sixth commandment, “No animal shall kill another animal without cause”

• “without cause” were the words not remembered by any animal before.

• Infact in the 2nd chapter it has been told that among the seven commandments the sixth commandment was “ No animal shall kill eachother”

• So it means pigs wanted that whatever they were doing everybody should accept that they are right.

Hard work and less meals to animals

• Throughout the year the animals worked even harder than they had worked in the previous year.

• There were times when it seemed to animals that they worked longer hours and fed no better than they had done in Jones day.

• Squealor exhorts the animals to greater efforts, still many of the animals feel hungry.

• The animals saw no reason to disbelieve him, especially as they could no longer remember very clearly what conditions had been like before the rebellion.

• Napoleon doesn’t appear in the public.• He was only attended by his retinue of dogs and

a black cockerel.• The black cockerel who marched in front of

Napoleon and acted as a kind of trumpeter.

“our Leader, comrade Napoleon”

• Napoleon inhabited separateb apartment and took his meals alone.

• He always ate from Crown Derby dinner service.Napoleon was now not simply spoken as “Napoleon” but as “our Leader, comrade Napoleon” and some other flattering titles.

Napoleon –The great

• It become usual to give credit to Napoleon for every successful achievement and every stroke of good fortune.

• “under the guidance of our leader, comrade Napoleon, I have laid five eggs in six days” said by one hen.

• Similarly two cows enjoying drink at pool would exclaim, “thanks to the leadership of comrade Napoleon, how excellent this water tastes”

Poem “COMRADE NAPOLEON

• Napoleon has been praised in this poem as the poet says that Napoleon is the friend of father less,fountain of happiness, giver of happiness,stall of peace”

• Napoleon approved of this poem caused it to be inscribed on the

wall of barn.

• Napoleon, through the middle man, has been trying to sell off a pile of timber to one of the other neighbour.

• At this time, rumours abound that Frederick is about to attack the “Animal farm”

• A plot to murder Napoleon is uncovered.

Napoleon-Pilingkton friendly relatioships

• Napolean arranged to sell the pile of timber to Mr. Pilkington.

• In exchange of certain products between Animal farm and Foxwood.

• Napolean and Pilkington had friendly relations.• Animals at the farm distrusted Pilkington but

preferred him over Frederick, whom they hated and feared.

Rumors of Frederick attack

• As the windmill neared completion, rumors of an attack grew stronger and stronger.

• There was a rumor that Frederick was planning an attack on the farm with twenty armed men.

• There were terrible stories about the cruelties of Frederick . He had flogged an old horse to death, starved his cows and killed a dog by throwing it in a furnace.

• Frederick cruelties greatly agitated the animals.

Slogan changed to“death to Frederick”

• Napolean claimed that he had never at any time contemplated to sell the pile of timber to Frederick as it was beneath his dignity.

• Pigeons were ordered not to spread the word of rebellion at Foxwood and were instructed to change their slogan to :

“Death to Frederick” • It was discovered that Snowball had mixed weed seeds and the

seed corns.• The animals also learned that Snowball never received the order

of ‘Animal hero, first class’. It was a legend spread by snowball himself.

• The work of windmill construction was finished punctually despite of all the problems which the animals had to face.

Napoleon mill

• Napolean came to inspect the windmill with his two dogs and a cockerel.

• he congratulated the animals on their achievement and named the windmill ‘Napolean mill’

“Death to Pilingkton”• The animals were surprised when Napolean called a meeting

and announced that he sold the pile of timber to Frederick.• All relations with Foxwood were broken. The pigeons were told

to stay away from Pinchfield farm and their slogan was change “ Death to Pilkington”• Napolean assured the animals that rumors of an attack by

Frederick were all false.• Napoleon by seeming to be friendly with Pilkington he had

forced Frederick to raise his price by 12 pounds.• Napolean demanded payment in real five pound notes, which

was enough to buy machinery for the windmill.

Death sentence on Frederick

• After the timber was carted away, a meeting was called to inspect Frederick’s bank notes.

• Three days later, Whymper rushed to the farmhouse with a terrible news. The bank notes were forgeries!

• Napolean called the animals together immediately and pronounced the death sentence on Frederick.

• He also warned the animals that after this treacherous deed the worst was to be expected.

Precautions against Frederick’s possible attack

• Protections were made against Frederick’s probabale attack.

• Rebuild relationships with Foxwood.

FREDERICK ATTACK

• Frederick and his followers attacked.• Animlas rushed forth to meet them.• Case was quite different from the battle of Cowshed.• Napoleon and Boxer tried to rally them• The whole farmhouse was in hand of enemies• Napoleon looked toward Foxwood for help• Pilkington sent a paper written “ serves you right

Destruction of windmill

• Frederick aimed at destroying windmill.• They were equipped enough to destroy

windmill.• Frederick and his men made a blast in the

windmill.• windmill ceased to exist.

ANIMAL’S REVENGE

• After the sight of destruction of windmill animals were full of righteous feminist fury

• Animals paid no heed to bullets and charged forth.

• Many animals were killed and almost everyone was wounded.

• Napoleon’s nine dogs overtook men under his directions.

• Frederick men ran to save their dear lives.

ANIMALS WON THE BATTLEbut animal farm was gloomy

• Animals won but they were gloomy• At the sight of their dead comrade• At the sight of their last trace of labour• Squealer was happy that they had won every inch

of ground from enemies.• Boxer was wounded both externally and internally.• Squealer and Napoleon speech made animals feel

that they had won a great victory.

Strange incident

• Crash in the yard • Break down of ladder into two pieces• Ring of dogs around squealer• No animal make any idea • Only benjamin had known but cant say
