    DETAILS

At times, the architect and engineer need a drawing that gives a three-dimensional appearance. These drawingsare labeled Detail on the plans under the title of the detail. Details are not usually drawn to scale. For clarity, the drafter notes Not to Scale or gives the scale used. Some examples of such drawings are shown in DetailsFigures 22 through 26 . Each of these details gives a realistic view of the object along with specific necessaryinformation.

Details, are included on plans to relay information from the architect to persons who will be studying theconstruction drawings.

Details, may be on a separate page or on unused spaces on the construction drawings. A detail shows how materials and components are joined, and it is not usually drawn to scale . Details are

often drawn using the isometric or oblique drafting method.

    MECHANICAL DETAILS

Some details that are commonly used in themechanical engineers office are as follows:

    1. Mechanical unit details2. Fan details3. Equipment mounting bases4. Unit hangers details5. Roof-mounted equipment6. Supply and return air terminals7. Detail of special valves8. Duct connections9. Piping details

    10. Pump details11. Damper details

    12. Insulation details13. Coil mounting details14. Louver details15. Equipment connection details

Mechanical details should include such infor-mation as the type of materials used, how differentmembers are joined together, necessary dimensionsfor different members, connection points, and hangersor mounting devices.
