2701. Diving Officer

1. The Captain is to nominate a Diving Officer who is in date, chosen in the followingorder of preference:

Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving OfficerWarrant Officer (Diver)Ship’s Diver OfficerWarrant Officer Ship’s Diver SupervisorChief Petty Officer Ship’s Diver Supervisor

2. Where no officer qualified in diving is borne, the most suitable officer, normally thePWO(U) is to be detailed as Diving Officer. The duties and responsibilities of the DivingOfficer are laid down in BR 2806, (UK Military Diving Manual) Art. 0206.6

2702. The Diving Supervisor

1. The Diving Supervisor must be one of the officers, ratings or NCOs authorized inBR 2806 Art. 0721. The nominated Diving Supervisor for each dive is to be in full chargeof the diving team and continuously at the scene of the task. He must not enter the water.The duties of the Diving Supervisor are laid out in BR 2806 Art. 0208. and he is to be fullyconversant with the contents of this BR and conduct all diving operations in accordancewith the rules and regulations contained within.
