The Mission of the Hall Newman Center is to nurture spiritual development of individuals on the SUNY Oswego campus and in the Oswego community. We commit ourselves to be a resource for in-formation, education and advocacy on behalf of the Catholic Church and its teachings. Our welcom-ing and vibrant atmosphere promotes a sense of Christian Community and we commit ourselves to be available to and to represent the students of SUNY Oswego, the larger college and area communities.

Meet Coralys Diaz, a freshman Adolescent Education major with a concentration in Mathematics from Yonkers, NY.

Coralys is a graduate from Yonkers High School and was on the cheerleading team. She was very involved at her home parish of St. Peter/St. Dennis Church in Yonkers. Coralys was an alter server from 4th grade and through her sopho-more year in high school. She was a member of her church’s Youth Group, JCC, since 7th grade acting first as a Youth Server and then as Vice President.

Coralys decided to attend Oswego because of its strong Latino community and Newman Center. She wanted to go to college where she could practice her faith freely with oth-ers. Coralys was undeclared, but she instantly fell in love with teaching students through the Mentor Scholar Program and decided to be an Adolescent Education major. She enjoys interacting with high school students and helping them learn. Besides Mentor Scholar, Coralys is involved with the Latino Student Union and dances with the LSU Ritmo dance club! In her free time, she enjoys dancing, playing music and hanging out with her friends.

Coralys discovered the Newman Center while searching for potential colleges. Whatev-er school she went to, she wanted to ensure there was a church nearby. She loves com-ing to the Newman Center because of how open, accepting and loving everyone is here. She is a member of Newman Club, helps out on Confirmation retreats with the Retreat Team, goes to Holy Hour and attends the Last Wednesday Suppers.

Someone who is very important to Coralys is her mom. Her mom has taught her many life lessons that have helped her grow and navigate through life.

After graduating from Oswego, Coralys plans on becoming a high school math teacher. Thank you Coralys for sharing your faith and you calming and approachable presence with the Newman Center! Have a great semester! God Bless ♥

WISH LIST …

Poly-wood Picnic Table

With the many community picnics and events sponsored by Newman Club, Newman House and our Peer Ministry Leadership Team, we look towards replacing what we had with a 72-90” long Poly-Wood Picnic table with at-tached benches.

In this season of Advent, we are continuously preparing ourselves for the celebration of Christ's birth. Why not help our own communi-ty prepare for the coming new year by signing up with Faith Direct?

By supporting the Newman Foundation Of Oswego, both you and the Hall Newman Center can save some time and peace of mind this holi-

day season. Already using Faith Direct? Don't forget to add your Christmas or End-of-

Year contributions to your account.

Visit www.faithdirect.net and use our church code: NY667.

Thank you for your continued support of our Newman family! Merry Christmas, and many blessings in the New Year! Peace, Mike Huynh
