Changing perceptions: Addressing Grief in the Workplace
Date & Time:
Why does society and specifically the workplace look at grief as a
taboo subject? In reality we will all experience the loss of someone
in our lives resulting in the need to grieve and heal in a productive
and supportive environment.
Addressing grief and implementing awareness on an often-
overlooked workplace challenge will result in greater work
satisfaction, creating a productive work/life balance. Providing
awareness on the topic can create a shift in culture from avoidance
to embrace - tackling the goal of changing the perception of loss.
Organizations remain ignorant about the short and long-term impact
of grief in the workplace. Therefore, it is important for organizations
to address grief programmatically using proven and effective
approaches.
This presentation will provide attendees with a structured format for
addressing grief as it enters the workplace by providing extensive
information on grief, knowledge of what to expect from a grieving
employee and how a grief in the workplace program can dovetail into
already existing bereavement programs.
