2019 was a year of growth and milestones for Alatheia. In our ninth year of operations, we added our 100th rider and reached ca-pacity at our current facility. We added two horses and furthered staff education to meet the demands of that growth. Thanks toone generous donor we provided a down payment and secured a loan to purchase 12 acres of land close to town that will allow usto double the number of people we serve. A capital campaign was initiated and fundraising began to build a facility there that willaccommodate the growing need for alternative therapy services in the four-county North Central Washington region we serve.

We are continually moved by the generosity of this community and the dedication of the extraordinary people and businessesthat make this region unique. Our partnership means together we will continue to say “Yes!” to children and adults who arechallenged with physical, learning, or social disabilities. It means veterans in our community who struggle with PTSD will havean opportunity for significant and meaningful change through equine assisted psychotherapy. It means in spite of the unusualchallenges of 2020 we have continued providing modified services to clients.

It’s an honor to be on mission with you to change lives with the healing power of horses. Thank you all for making 2019 such asuccess!

OUR PROGRAMS:OUR PROGRAMS:• ADAPTIVE RIDING: A skill based therapeutic experience that teaches real riding skills using adaptive equipment and modified instructional methods. Riders gain improvements to core strength, balance, coordination, confidence and independence. These benefits are lasting and translate directly to daily life skills.

• THERAPEUTIC RIDING: A movement based therapeutic experience for riders that are less likely to develop riding skills, but still receive improvements to core strength, muscle tone, balance, respiration, circulation, digestion, sleep and more. These benefits also carry over outside of Alatheia and make a real difference at home.

• VETERAN’S PROGRAM: Serving veterans in a variety of capacities is a priority for us. We envision an overarching Veteran’s Umbrella with three branches of service: volunteerism, therapeutic riding, and PTSD therapy.

> Volunteerism: Vets brought into the volunteer program can begin immediately.

> Therapeutic & Adaptive Riding: Veterans with physical or mental disabilities are welcome and encouraged to apply for riding services at Alatheia.

> “Warriors and Horses”: An unmounted therapy program for combat veterans conducted by a Licensed Mental Health Professional and a certified Equine Specialist.

OUR HORSES

A therapeutic riding center is not complete without a

great equine team!

Alatheia features only Norwegian Fjord horses that are registered with the NFHR (Norwegian Fjord Horse Registry). Aside from their unique and beautiful appearance, Norwegian Fjords are noted for their calm and easygoing nature. They are sure-footed and “hon-est”, meaning they are what they seem. Quiet, friendly, and trust-worthy. Each of our horses has a unique personality and endear themselves to riders very quickly.

Ella’s best friend, Isaiah, is also a rider at Alatheia! Isaiah struggles to see, hear, move, coordinate and sometimes breathe. But that doesn’t stop this little guy. He’s a trooper and loves to ride Blakken. He is

stronger, more coordinated,and so determined!

Isaiah and Ella share a low five in the arena. Their moms tell us the friendship the two riders have found is precious and dear to

both. And it is all through the power of Alatheia.
