Using a putty knife with a 1 inch rigid blade, slide the blade between the sash and
the frame jamb. (Picture 1)
Move the knife up and down the vertical jamb until you locate the retaining
screws.
Place the knife on top of the screw, in the downward position (Picture 2), and
with a hammer, give the knife several solid hits until you shear off the screw.
Repeat this on both sides, there are no screws in the bottom rail.

Once the screws are all broken
Open sash to approximately 5”

- Tilt the sash a little over a 90Deg angle and then back to a 90Deg angle.
Note: Take care not to scratch the side jamb of the window when tilting the sash.
There will be a part of the screw remaining in the sash so protect the side jamb
before tilting the sash.

Removing Jamb extension on the sill:
22 December 2016 , Kevin Young 7
The sill jamb extension sill must be removed to allow for the jamb extension that is
compatible with the roll up screen.
The jamb extension is nailed/screwed from underneath (picture 9) and through each end
from the side extension. (Picture 9)
Using a chisel or other suitable tool cut away the jamb extension being careful not to
damage the frame or side jamb extensions.
Remove and nails/screws that remain after the extension is removed.

Cutting the kerf for the Screen weather stripping:
Measure 3/8” from the inside edge of the inside liner to the side of the kerf (picture 10).
Carry this line from the bottom to the top of the inside line.
From the first line make a parallel line 1/8” on the outside.
One method for making this kerf would be to use an oscillating tool
similar to the one shown and a temporary guide. A good idea
would be to cut the temporary guide the same distance between the
jamb extension and the first cut to be made for the kerf. (picture 11)

When the kerf is cut on both side of the inside liner, install the weather stripping (picture

Installing the sill jamb extension and sill liner:
Nail the sill cap to the jamb extension as shown in picture 13
Picture 13
One side of the vertical jamb extension will have to be cut shorter to allow the assembly
from above to fit the window.
This can be done using the oscillating tool. (Picture 14). Cut the same length as the
shorter of the 2 vertical jamb extensions.
