The student needs to complete the exam in the allotted time (5 hours) and may use any electronic or published resources needed. GRADING SCALE A = 90 and above B+ = 87-89 B = 83–86 B- = 80-82 C+ = 77-79 C = 73-76 The grading criteria will follow the policy of the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (see student handbook) with a passing grade being a “C” and a 73 percent. All students must practice academic honesty. Academic misconduct is subject to an academic penalty by the course instructor and /or disciplinary sanction by the University. CLASS SCHEDULE LECTURE OUTLINE: DATA INTEREST: Why is measurement important in contemporary PT practice? Face into the Storm (Hislop and Jette McMillan themes) Importance of high value health care for patients and society Defining HIGH VALUE health care: the health outcomes achieved/ per dollar spent Importance of measuring HEALTH OUTCOMES in addition to PROCESSES and COSTS Process measurement: The concept of QUALITY AND QUALITY INDICATORS HEDIS indicators Inside the ‘black box’ of PT interventions Outcome measurement: The purposes of outcome measurement The users of outcomes data (Intrinsic vs. extrinsic purposes) Uses of data beyond patient care planning

Determining which outcomes to measure Conceptual framework for outcome measurement (ICF) Instrumented, performance-based, and patient reported outcome measures

Psychometric criteria for evaluation of outcome measures Example: The AM-PAC DEVISING SOLUTIONS:
