Greetings to all!

Put your heart, mind and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the

secret of success.

Our outstanding staff, talented and diverse students and our

distinguished alumni are the core and foundation of Dr. D.Y. Patil

Vidyapeeth, Pune. Along with their excellence in academics, it is

necessary to appreciate their hidden sportsmen personas. The URJJA

Sports Magazine initiative was taken up to celebrate the achievements

of students & staff of DPU as a whole.

The making of the URJJA SPORTS MAGAZINE has lead the

students and staff to unite and harmonize towards the establishment

of this magazine which is the showcase of talents of first of it’s kind.

The magazine has given them an opportunity to understand and

appreciate each other’s work and accomplishments.

I truly congratulate all the efforts put in for the making of this

magazine and wish the magazine to be a grand success.

Here at Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Pune we strive to give our

students the best college experience and develop an all round

personality .Sports promotes values that are necessary for growth and

development but most importantly keeps us physically fit, mentally

alert, healthy and happy.

In this magazine we hope to showcase the various sporting

activities that have taken place in our prestigious college over the past

few years and will only continue in the years to come .

The aim of this magazine is to serve as a benchmark that

students aspire towards and instil in them the urge to work hard in all

aspects and develop a healthy competitive spirit and discipline.

“Don’t be afraid of being a beginner“

When I read this quote it happened to instantly resonate with me and

my experiences regarding the making of this magazine. Few months

back I was given the opportunity by our very own Vidyapeeth Sports

Director, Dr. Tushar Palekar to create the first ever edition of URJJA

SPORTS MAGAZINE. It has beenexciting to be a pioneer and to be

able to create a new platform for students to showcase their athletic

talents. The past few weeks have been hectic yet memorable for me as I

got the chance to co-ordinate with all the colleges within our DPU

family and together in harmony conduct all URJJA sports events

successfully. This magazine that has been put together by us is a

compilation of all the fun-filled experiences of healthy competitions

conducted over the past few years under URJJA. I got the chance to

learn about the constant hard-work and diligence required to

successfully put together a magazine and conduct a sports festival of

this magnitude.

I am grateful to all the other colleges for their constant help and

support to make this dream of ours a reality.

I sincerely hope that all who look upon this magazine feel the

excitement experienced by the competing students. And wish that this

is only the first of many more editions to come.

We the students of DPU are delighted to present to you the absolute 1st edition

of the URJJA SPORTS MAGAZINE 2015-2019. This edition highlights all

the events organized under URJJA for the past 4 years.

It is a compilation of all the excitement and achievements of our very own

talented students. DPU as an institute doesn’t only stress upon a student’s

academic performance, but also encourages and motivates them to enhance their

extra-curricular talents. URJJA is the perfect platform for students to showcase

their athletic skills.

The magazine committee took it upon themselves under the guidance and

supervision of Dr.Tushar Palekar (Vidyapeeth Sports Director) to collect all the

URJJA SPORTS REPORT: 2015-2016

• Every year at DPU, a wide range of sports facilities like cricket ground for

girls & boys, badminton & volleyball courts, basketball and Tennis courts

are available for students.

• “URJJA”, the annual inter – college sports event is conducted for

students of all colleges and institutes under DPU.

• Various outdoor and indoor sports activities are organized as a part of

this annual event.

• Meetings and discussions amongst the Vidyapeeth student council

members were conducted. This year again it was decided to organize both

indoor and outdoor games from 1-2-16 to 18-2-16.

• The outdoor sports organized were volleyball, throw ball, cricket-men

and women, basketball- men and women and football- men and women

from 1-2-2016 to 6-2-2016 & 9-2-2016 to 18-2-2016.

• The indoor sports organized were table-tennis, carrom and chess from 8-

2-2016 & 15-2-2016.

• The Vidyapeeth student council members made all the arrangements

necessary for all the events.

• First aid facility and emergency care was provided at the hospital as

when required.

• The prize distributions for the “URJJA 2015-2016” Annual Inter –

Collegiate sports events winners and runner-ups were announced in DPU

NITE–2016- Annual Inter–Collegiate Cultural program held on

2-04-2016.

• Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College had won the Championship Trophy for the

year 2015-2016.

REPORT OF DPU NITE APRIL 2016

The Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Pune had organized the DPU NITE on 2nd

April 2016 at 5pm.

The dignitaries for the programme were Dr. P. N. Razdan, Vice Chancellor,

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Pune, Dean of various colleges & invitees were Dr.

Achara Phanurat- Acting President of Surindra Rajabhat University

Thailand, Dr. Wasana Kaewla- Chair Person Public health Program,

Surindra Rajabhat University Thailand, Prof. Viroj Wiwanitkit- MD Surindra

Rajabhat University Thailand were present for the programme. The

programme begin at 5pm with the welcome & Lamp Lighting. Various

colleges from Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth & Vidyapratisthan (total 11 Colleges)

had participated in DPU NITE. Every college had 10 mins to present their

talents under the following themes & subthemes.

Theme : Colour’s of DPU

Subtheme:

Prevention of health problem

Promotion of health

Future India

Youth and information technology

Law and order.

Events were group dance, solo dance & solo singing based on the above

theme. The rules & regulations & criteria for the DPU NITE was informed to

the respective colleges during the subsequent meetings. There were

volunteers from each college to maintain discipline & control the students

.Snacks was distributed to the participants after the programme. After the

cultural programme results of DPU NITE were announced by the Judges &

the trophy was presented to the 1st& 2nd Contestants. The Judges for the

programme were Mrs. Geetha Sharma &Mrs. Shweta Kulkarni for Dance

Competition & Mr. Arun Matthew for Singing Competition.

The programme was followed by the Prize distribution for the Inter

University Sports Competition under DPU URJJA which was held from

1/2/16 to 15 /2/16 by Vice Chancellor Dr. P. N. Razdan Sir followed by

Deans & Principal of various Colleges & the best Performing College for the

DPU URJJA was Dr. D. Y. Patil medical college.

DPU NITE ended with Vote of Thanks given by Mr. Jigar Gori from Dr. D.Y.

Patil Homeopathy College & Pasayadan was sung by Singing Parcipants.

There was a kind co-operation & participation during the DPU NITE

Celebration from all the Colleges and it made a respectful event. It gave

opportunity for students to show their talent. All events went on smoothly,

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has organized the DPU NITE on 9th April

2017 at 5:00 pm at the ground of dental college.

The dignitaries of the program were Dr. P. N. Razdhan, Vice Chancellor of

Dean of various colleges and invitees were a present program. The program

began at 5:00 pm with the welcome song by the students of Dr. D. Y. Patil

College of Nursing Pimpri Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil College of physiotherapy,

lamp lightening was done by the Vice Chancellor followed with the

felicitation of the dignitaries.

Group dance which was based on theme “Protect Mother Earth”.

• This year in addition to the previously existing events, the committee

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has organized the DPU NITE on

14thApril2019 at 5:30 pm at the ground of Dental College.

The dignitaries of the programme were Dr. N. J. Pawar, (Chief Guest)

Vice Chancellor of Dr. D.Y.PATIL Vidyapeeth Pimpri Pune, Dr. A. N.

Suryakar, (Guest of Honour) Registrar of Dr. D. Y. PATIL Vidyapeeth Pimpri

Pune, Mr. M. S. Phirange, Controller of Examinations of Dr. D. Y. Patil

Vidyapeeth Pimpri Pune, Dr. J. S Bhawalkar, Dean of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical

College, Hospital & Research Centre, Dr. Mrs P. Vatsala Swami, Director

Dean of various colleges of DPU family, faculties and students were

present for the programme. The programme began at 5:30 PM, lamp

lightening was done by the Vice Chancellor followed by felicitation of the

dignitaries and judges for cultural events.
