Phillips Community College Chancellor Search

Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (PCCUA) seeks a visionary leader to work with students, faculty, staff, and the com-munity to provide a quality learning environ-ment and foster a high level of success for all students. Established in 1964, PCCUA has begun recruitment for its fourth Chancellor to continue its vision of student success by developing part-nerships to access resources, reach underserved populations and achieve student outcomes in new ways.

History

The first community college established in Arkansas, PCCUA is a multi-campus, two-year college serving Eastern Arkansas and the Grand Prairie. Since its inception, the college has grown from an original enrollment of fewer than 250 students in 14 program areas to over 2,200 students in academic, occupational/tech-nical and continuing education programs. PC-CUA has campuses in DeWitt, Helena-W. Helena and Stuttgart.

Governance

PCCUA has been a member of the University of Arkansas System (UAS) since 1996. The PCCUA Board of Visitors (BOV) is an advisory board re-sponsible for the oversight of PCCUA’s operating budget and establishment of student tuition lev-els and fees. The University of Arkansas Board of Trustees provides oversight for BOV policies and general operation guidance to include ap-proving new programs, conferring certificates, and hiring a Chancellor.

Core Values

Faculty and staff at PCCUA embrace three core values and seek to affirm their commitment to each in their decisions and daily interactions with others. The College’s three core values are:

Student SuccessWe are committed to the success of every stu-dent. We believe all students, given the right con-ditions, can learn. We believe those conditions include high expectations reflected in a rigorous curriculum and personal engagement evidenced by a faculty and staff who invest themselves in the lives of our students and our communities.

The Power of EducationWe believe learning begins at birth and should last a lifetime. We believe in the power of educa-tion to transform lives and build strong, produc-tive communities.

DiversityWe respect the inherent worth and dignity of ev-ery person.

Role and Scope

The College implements its mission, vision, and values through a clearly defined set of programs and services that include:

Continuing Education ProgramsThe College provides professional and occupa-tional development for individuals, businesses, industries, and governmental and health agen-cies. A variety of self-supporting non-credit ac-tivities for personal enhancement are also avail-able.

Student Development Programs and ServicesThe College offers developmental programs and services to enrolled and prospective students to increase their chances for success and enhance their potential for personal, educational, and professional growth.

Points of Pride

• In 2012, PCCUA received recognition from Achieving the Dream (AtD) in its Leah Meyer Austin Institutional Student Success Leadership Award competition for transforming itself into a college focused on the success of all its students, regardless of the obstacles they face.

• One of four Arkansas two-year colleges to par-ticipate in AtD, PCCUA has been selected as an AtD Leader College.
