About Champion Technologies is a global specialty chemical company with 2,900+ employees in over 50

locations in more than 30 countries delivering innovative and engineered programs for upstream,

midstream, and downstream oil and gas markets. Our integrated offering mixes sustainable chemistry,

technology, and service to enhance your world.

A depth of experience

Hurricane-proof footprint: Hurricanes are

unpredictable, but that isn’t an excuse for your chemical provider to

not deliver when you need it to keep your production flowing. With

analytic labs and distribution points established at five strategic

locations around the GOM (see map on back and below), we have

set up our deepwater infrastructure to help ensure our chemical

products and support services are as hurricane-proof as possible.

We’ve operated a dedicated deepwater production chemical

certification facility in the U.S. Gulf Coast region since 2002.

Located near Broussard, Louisiana, the 5-acre installation is

equipped with a full-service regional laboratory. In addition to field

laboratories established aboard each host facility where Champion

Technologies is supplying deepwater chemicals and support

services, we have full-service laboratories paired with warehousing,

blending, and distribution facilities near Laurel, Mississippi, Corpus

Christi, and Dayton, Texas. Also, our main manufacturing facility,

technology headquarters and research and development facility is

located in Fresno, Texas just minutes from the gulf coast.

QC process: Champion Technologies chemists in the regional lab at Broussard, LA use a particle size analyzer set up in a clean room.

Chemical design and testing: Champion Technologies chemist performs a cold-finger test to determine which products perform best on individual wells.

Hydrate rocking cell unit: This state-of-the-art high-pressure equipment simulates real life production conditions and situations which helps us predict the risk of hydrate formation and select the optimal chemistries for the best inhibition performance.

Deepwater-certified facility: Located in Broussard, LA, this 5-acre ISO-certified installation is equipped with a full-service regional laboratory and thirty 6,000-gallon bulk storage tanks.

Deepwater chemical solutions: Gulf of Mexico

Champion Technologies has been supporting

deepwater oil and gas development in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) for

more than thirteen years. We’ve developed a deep understanding

of the production challenges created by deepwater conditions. Our

deepwater-certified chemistries and integrated services have been

field proven to help minimize your downtime, optimize production,

and reduce costs, regardless of the characteristics of the reservoir,

composition of the production stream, water depth, or tieback

distance to a host platform. Products and people that perform: Our

deepwater team has developed one of the most complete lines

of deepwater specialty chemistries available in the GOM. From

high performance low dose hydrate inhibitors, to drag reducers

to corrosion inhibitors, our products have been field proven to

perform and deliver, and that isn’t by accident. We’ve invested in

the people, the equipment, the research, the technology, and the

quality control to help us predict and prevent your production issues

before they happen and solve them if they already exist. Specialized deepwater employee training: Our deepwater specialists are put through our unique

EDGEucation™ advanced training program, designed to teach

about the chemistries, application methods, and sampling and

testing protocols used in deepwater. They also learn production

strategy, how production system components function and interact,

normal ranges of key operating parameters, and more from real

world projects that helps advance their ability to serve you. We

also require that all of our employees complete the Champion

Technologies operational technical excellence program (COTE™),

which gives them the training and tools to serve you in a consistent,

safe and reliable manner. Customized engineering services: A lot of

value can be added to your project from your chemical provider

during pre-FEED planning for a new-field deepwater development.

By analyzing the composition of cuttings from exploratory and

delineation drilling in one of our four well-equipped laboratories

serving the GOM region, our chemists can model the types of

production problems an operator can anticipate - from first oil

through the life of the field - as well as the types and dosages of

deepwater-certified specialty chemistries that can help optimize

production operations. Early chemical insights are indispensable during engineering and design of production equipment and components, especially for configuring subsea production umbilicals, sizing chemical-injection lines and pumps, or selecting capacities of on-board chemical-storage tanks.

The Champion Technologies AdvantageWhether you’re planning a new-field

project in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico or

preparing to optimize or re-develop an existing

project, Champion Technologies has the people,

the technology and the footprint to help your

project succeed.

Low Dosage Hydrate Inhibitor (LDHI) and Defoamer Program

• Problem: The primary concern was LDHI consumption rate as part of chemical management system with secondary concern an available injection point for defoamer.

• Challenge:The current LDHI injection system could not adequately inject at lower injection rates needed for hydrate inhibition, and foamer was being injected after well choke, which required a very high injection rate of foamer. The higher rate significantly increased chemical treatment costs for the operator.

• Solution: Champion Technologies devised a method of injecting LDHI utilizing existing equipment with minimal changes to pump metering system.

• Result: During a planned shut-in, additional valves were added to allow the foaming well to receive defoamer prior to the choke, which gave better mixing and longer contact time with the production stream.

• Value: Total savings to the customer was in excess of $450,000/year.

Asphaltene Inhibitor

• Problem: Asphaltene precipitation plugged a 10-mile long subsea tie back resulting in operator shutting in well and disassembling topside choke to clean out asphaltene accumulation.

• Challenge:Even at high dosage rates with incumbent asphaltene inhibitor, solid asphaltenes were still precipitating out in the flow line.

• Solution:Champion Technologies recommended continuous downhole injection of a patented Flotron® product to help treat the asphaltene issues on the sub-sea tie back based on field Turbiscan® testing and other past successes with the product in the Gulf of Mexico.

• Result: Topside choke asphaltene deposits were eliminated, as well as, multiple shut-in to clean the topside choke was eliminated. In addition, differential pressure fell by 1000psi, indicating the product had dissolved the partial asphaltene subsea flowline plug and Turbiscan® tests indicated that asphaltenes had stabilized.

• Value: The Champion Technologies product was injected at one-half the incumbent’s asphaltene inhibitor injection rate.

Wax Inhibitor and Defoamer Program

• Problem: A Gulf of Mexico producer was experiencing wax deposition in producing wells. Their current inhibitor program was ineffective resulting in wax removal every two to three months by wireline cutting.

• Challenge: To administer an effective new wax inhibitor program, as well as, improve the current defoamer program.

• Solution: After laboratory testing and a field evaluation, Champion Technologies recommended a Flexoil® wax inhibitor, which was also qualified by a third-party independent laboratory. For the improved foamer program, Champion Technologies recommended re-configuration of the defoamer injections points along with one of Champion Technologies’ proven Foamatron® defoamers.

• Result: The treatment program significantly reduced wax plugging and the frequency of wireline cutting. In addition, the recommendations for the defoamer treatment helped to optimize the performance of the chemical program.

• Value: More consistent production with a $120,000/year reduction in chemical spend and $40,000/year reduction of wireline costs.

Anti-Agglomerant Hydrate Inhibitor

• Problem: A Gulf of Mexico operator was experiencing significant production problems for two subsea tiebacks located in East Breaks area, with water depths of around 4,000 feet.

• Challenge: Two wells shut-in due to hydrate plugging because their methanol pumps reached maximum capacity. Also, elevation profile of flow lines indicated a bow-shape structure, which could potentially hold water and easily form hydrate plugs. The incumbent products also resulted in extremely poor water quality that was untreatable.

• Solution:The Champion Technologies team developed an anti-agglomerant hydrate inhibitor, which proved to effectively prevent hydrate blockages without having a negative effect on water quality. Laboratory testing, topsides and subsea field trials were conducted to prove the performance of the recommended product.

• Result: Successful prevention of hydrate plugging and crude export specifications were met due to the elimination of methanol injection. Also, excellent produced water quality was observed with no changes in the water treatment chemicals or equipment. Production was at full capacity of 23,000 BOPD and 17.6 MMSCF for an extended period.

• Value: Increased production and improved water quality.
