Spring Grove Cemetery boasts over

wood and leaves
of these special
trees.
The tour begins at 10:00 a.m. and

Afterwards, we will enjoy lunch at

Our last 55+ dinner of 2019 will take
place on Wednesday, October 23 at
6:00 p.m. in the Community Room
where we will listen to the
contemporary jazz melodies of the
Sound Body Jazz Quartet.
The Sound Body Jazz Orchestra
formed in 1992 as a collaboration of
Roger Bacon High School’s Band
Alumni. Sound Body has received
tremendous response to its eclectic combination of
classic big band swing with contemporary jazz and
fusion. The band’s name is adapted from the high
school’s Latin motto, “Mens Sana en Corpore Sano”
(A Sound Mind in a Sound Body). The quartet features
the jazz orchestra's fine rhythm section—bass, drums,
keyboard and sax. Like the Jazz
Orchestra, they play a wide
variety of jazz-influenced
popular music—standards that
will be very familiar! Come
ready to enjoy good music, food
and company.
Our luncheon will take place on
Thursday, October 24 at
11:30 a.m. In keeping with an
October “theme,” we invite you to
join us to hear about historic
hauntings in the Cincinnati area.
Barbara Jennings, Program
Docent with the Cincinnati
Museum Center, will talk about
the history of ghost stories and
hauntings in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky
area—from the founding of the city right up to the
present day. Luncheon takes place in the Community
Room. Arrive at 11:30 a.m. find your nametag and a
seat.
Tables will be called to
eat soon after and the
presentation will begin at
approximately Noon.

Dinner and Luncheon Events
In September, join us and take a “Tour of the Universe” with Dean Regas,
Outreach Astronomer for the Cincinnati Observatory. As the co-host of PBS' Star
Gazers, Dean brings the wonder of the night sky to TV sets around the country and
embodies the phrase, "Keep Looking Up!" Dean combines knowledge, charisma,
and technology to deliver multi-media presentations on topics that appeal to a di-
verse audience. His engaging style involves both knowledge and humor whether he
is talking about stars, planets, comets, or black holes. His Tour of the Universe:
You Are Here presentation utilizes some amazing simulation software which
guides you through the mind-boggling scale of the universe.
Join us for dinner on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:00 p.m. or lunch on
Thursday, September 19 at 11:30 a.m. and take this r emar kable tour for

On Monday, November 18,
parishioner Terry Albright along
with members of Good Shepherd’s
Computer Recycling Team, will once
again offer a workshop based on PC
security and how you can protect
yourself against viruses.
The workshop will start
with a short introduction
about what is inside your
PC. From there, Terry
will address the various types of viruses
that can affect your system, how they
attack the PC and how to protect against
them. Finally, the workshop will
address how to protect your important
papers, documents, and pictures by
creating back-up copies, and finally
they will address how to store them.
There is no need to bring your laptop or
any device with you as there will be
handouts and supplements for each
participant. Everyone will be able to
follow along by way of a PowerPoint
presentation. There will be both an
afternoon and an evening session
offered - choose the one that best suits
your schedule.

You may have
seen information
about the Caregiver
Assistance Network
at the Good Shepherd Activity
Center during the weekend of
August 17 and 18. This was an
effort to raise awareness of the
availability of caregiver support
in our area, which many are not
aware of.
Caregiver support groups allow
folks in a caregiving role to share
resources, issues, and personal
stories. Caregiving is a
rewarding but very demanding
role and the support of others in
similar roles can be extremely
helpful.
The next meeting at Good
Shepherd will be Wednesday,
September 18 at 12:30 p.m. If
this day or time doesn’t work for
you, please call Angie Homoelle
at (513) 672-3834 or visit
www.ccswoh.org/caregivers for
information about other dates,
times and locations. The support
group is sponsored by the
Caregiver Assistance Network, a
program of Catholic Charities
Southwestern Ohio funded
through the Council on Aging.
