MIXED DRINKS HISTORY“It was in the year eighteen hundred and twenty-four, by which time “the quality” of Edinburgh had mostly forsaken the “cabin’d, cribb’d, confined” areas of the High Street and the Canongate for the handsome and spacious thoroughfares of the New Town, that there was born the idea which ultimately reached fulfilment in the establishment of The National Bank of Scotland. Commerce was prospering, there was an air of confidence and optimism abroad, and the people were ready and eager to support mercantile enterprise by the subscription of capital, but wisdom and prudence in the direction of financial affairs were required if the lessons of the past were not to be forgotten or ignored.”

SPEYSIDE WHISKY Now Scotland’s most densely populated region with over half of all working distilleries, Speyside plays host to a wide varierty of styles from light & grassy to big rich sherry bombs.
LOWLAND WHISKYFew Single Malt distilleries remain in this once popular region, famed for light, fresh & grassy single malts and large production of grain whisky primarily for blending.
HIGHLAND WHISKYTraditionally the home of illicit distilling, the Highlands are home to some of the most famous of all Scotch Whisky distilleries. The scale and variety of the landscape contributes to a diverse range of styles of malt.
ISLAND WHISKYThese distilleries together form the unofficial region of the ‘Islands’ which are generally grouped into the Highlands region. This region covers the majority of the islands along the Scottish coastline with the exclusion of Islay.

CAMPBELTOWN WHISKYSet on the Mull of Kintyre, Campbeltown was once a booming whisky region due to its ideal location near the ports on the west coast. In its heyday Campbeltown was home to over thirty distilleries, now only three remain.
ISLAY WHISKYThe western isle of Islay sits just north of Ireland, famous for heavily peated whiskies influenced by the harsh coastal climate.
