The Sherwood Park and DistrictChamberofCommerceorganizedandhosted this community event onApril13-15. This year’s show delivered anexciting array of exhibits, attractions,and entertainment which wereenjoyed by people of all ages andinterests alike. Held in conjunctionwith the show this year was, thefirst annual ‘Taste of Strathcona’,which was a huge success. TheChamber’s mission is to provideChamber Members with a top classvenue to showcase their products andservices and share with attendees,what businesses in the Strathconacommunity have to offer.

The Chamber is overwhelmed bythe continued positive responsefrom the local and neighboring

business communities. The exhibitorbooths were 100% sold out weeks prior to the eventand a waiting list was created for exhibitors wanting toparticipate next year.

This year’s Trade Fair & Sale was a huge success withan attendance of 18, 943 people! The Sherwood Park &District Chamber of Commerce had the assistance of250 volunteers to make this event the success that it was.Some of the groups that were involved were the KiwanisClub, ATB Financial, Sherwood Park Crusaders Junior‘A’ Hockey Club, Chamber members and many more.

There was no shortage of fun for those who attendedas they were treated to a variety of exhibits from localbusinesses around Strathcona County and nationalbusinesses from Halifax to Vancouver. To add to the“shopping experience”, there were attractions for the

youth including the Trinity Baptist Family Fun Zone,X-Box 360 draw and more. For those who wanted totake a break from visiting the 333 booths, one couldstop at our Entertainment Stage & Taste of Strathcona,which was held in the new gymnasium at MillenniumPlace. The entertainment stage sponsored by theSherwood Park- Strathcona County News offered non-stop entertainment.Acts ranged fromdance groups, babycrawl, fashion shows, talent quest, singers, Fiddlers,glee clubs and much more.

This was the sixth year of our Home Renovation andGarden Centre, which consisted of exhibits fromlandscapers, home building and renovation suppliers,roofers, window and door suppliers, outdoor furnitureand much more. Due to popular demand, the TreasureChest was also back again this year. Over 2000 prizeswere given away which were graciously donated bythe local business community. This year, grand prizesconsisted of a $1,500 Shopping Spree sponsored bySherwood Park Mall, $1,000 of groceries from Sobeysand Matheson Insurance & Sherwood Park Registriesand an In-Home Drinking Water Purification Systemfrom Douglas Environmental.

Strong support is always provided by StrathconaCounty and it is greatly appreciated. Strathcona CountyTransit provided free shuttle service for the weekend,Emergency Services provided excellent assistanceto ensure a safe event was organized and EconomicDevelopment helped promote the event. We would alsolike to thank Recreation Parks and Culture for rentingus the venue. Millennium Place is a fantastic facilityand an event this size would not be possible with out thefacility and its staff…ThankYou!
