Principal’s Long Service Leave
I will be taking Long Service Leave from Thursday 25th May until Wednesday 14th June. During this
time, Paul Poliviou will be Acting Principal and Mrs Leggas, Ms Ablitt and Mr Suttie will act as
Assistant Principals on designated days.
Mrs Leggas will be in the office on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th May.
Mr Suttie will be in the office from Monday 29th May until Friday 2nd June.
Ms Ablitt will be in the office from Monday 5th June until Tuesday 13th June.
Mrs Tamsin Corrigan will be teaching these classes during this time. There will be no disruption to the
curriculum program, which has already been developed by the class teachers.
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease
We have been advised that there has been a case of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease identified in the junior
school (Prep). This is a viral infection that produces small blisters on the palms of the hands, soles of the
feet and inside the mouth. Hand, Foot and Mouth disease is a common viral infection which is easily
passed from person to person. It usually causes a mild illness. Good hygiene helps prevent
infection. In Primary school and children’s services centres, exclusion is required until all blisters have
dried.
District Cross Country Competition We have done it again!!!!! Champions third year in a row – Go Chalcot!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations to all our students who participated in the District Cross Country competition on
Tuesday. A big thank you to our amazing Physical Education teacher
Ms Thomas, for organising our schools participation. Qualifying students will take part in the
Divisional Cross Country competition on Monday 29th May.
Camp Night Meeting- Thursday 25th May 6.00pm Parents with students in Year 3 & 4 are invited to attend an information evening about the Year 3 & 4
camp which will be taking place from 29th November to 1st December. The purpose of the evening is to
inform parents of the finer details of our Camping Program and expectations for the students. The
meeting will be held in 3/4 portables and is expected to be approximately 30 – 45 minutes. Parents will
also have the opportunity to have their questions answered. If you wish to attend, please respond via the
link provided in the notice sent out on Flexibuzz by Tuesday 23rd May.
Parent Club Chocolate Drive
As part of our plan to improve resources at Chalcot Lodge Primary School, Parent Club are
running a ‘Fantastic Cadbury Fundraiser Drive’. Each box contains 30 pieces of chocolate
valued at $1.00 each. The entire box/bag is worth $30.
May we suggest that you sell to family members, colleagues in the workplace, friends or
neighbours. We do not recommend involving children in selling door to door. Those interested need to
reply via FlexiBuzz (Tiqbiz) by Wednesday 14th June. Parent Club we will then order the chocolates and
send the chocolates home during the last week of Term 2. We ask that all unsold chocolates and money
collected be returned to Chalcot Lodge Primary School no later than Friday 21st July. Money should be
in the named envelope provided and unsold chocolates in the original box/bag. There is certainly no
obligation for families to buy any chocolates that they are unable to sell.
Money raised from the Cadbury Fundraising Drive will go towards upgrading laptops and iPads
throughout the school.
School Policy Review
We are currently reviewing our Students with Disabilities and Staff Register Protocol policies. School
community input is welcome. If you would like to make any comments in relation to these policies,
please feel free to email your comments to me via the schools email address at

Excursions and Invisits
To enrich class programs this year, teachers have planned
excursions outside the school to provide all students with
opportunities for first hand learning experiences, which will
broaden their understanding and knowledge of units of work being
taught.
Teachers will have also planned invisits to the school where visitors
provide expertise and knowledge as part of the planned curriculum
program.
It is vital that all students attend excursions and invisits as these activities relate to specific parts of the
school's curriculum. It is vital that the permission slip and payment via QKR be processed promply.
Legally, without the return of a signed permission slip, a student CANNOT attend an excursion or
invisit.
Students participating in excursions which require a meal, should clearly label their lunch and drink (no
glass containers for drinks).
School uniform must be worn at all times on excursions.
Coughs, Colds and Asthma
Coughs, colds and the flu are one of the most common triggers of asthma. The common cold is caused by
an upper respiratory tract infection and is a common illness for children and adults in Australia. As we
approach the colder months, here are some tips to keep in mind to prevent and reduce the spread of
coughs, colds and the flu:
Avoid coughing and sneezing on or near others and wash your hands thoroughly to prevent the
spread of disease.
If your child is not feeling well, it is recommended that they stay home and rest, to reduce the
spread of infections and to speed up their recovery process.
Everyone should have the annual flu vaccination to ensure they are protected from this disease.
You or your child may be eligible for the free flu vaccination.
Prior to purchasing any medications or herbal and natural remedies’, you should seek the advice
of your doctor or pharmacist as some medications can react with asthma medications
