Dear Friends of Mercy,

Can you believe it? Sixty years ago, six sisters under the leadership of Sr. M. Cornelia Blasko arrived in Mountain View on a mission to bring compassionate care to our community. The Daughters of St. Francis joined in partnership with the Sisters of Mercy, and today we celebrate not only the 60 years of the Daughters of St. Francis, but also the 125 years of the Sisters of Mercy in the Ozarks.

Thanks to generous contributions from friends and neighbors in 2016, we saw important progress in Mountain View: • The opening of a new Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Room,

thanks to our generous Auxilians. • Enhancements to our Emergency Department, thanks to an anonymous donor.• The introduction of telemedicine services for heart care.

A most sincere thanks for your support the last 60 years. As we launch our campaign for upgraded defibrillators, we know we can count on the generosity of our community to carry us forward another 60 years.

People throughout the Mountain View area rely on Mercy for exceptional health care in a faith-based environment. Mercy is dedicated to providing the most advanced medical technologies and health care services available. That dedication and our commitment to provide care to all who need it, regardless of their ability to pay, means Mercy Health Foundation must rally community support to keep your trusted hospital strong. The community’s health depends on it.

Mercy Health Foundation Mountain View is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization and is dependent on the gifts and support of generous individuals, caring corporations and foundations. Your gifts help meet the health care needs of local residents—and all money raised stays in our community.

Expanded Cardiopulmonary Rehab Donna Triplett, who donates her time each Wednesday at the Mercy St. Francis Hospital, knows a thing or two about physical therapy. “About 18 years ago, I had four heart bypass surgeries,” she said. “In the last year, I’ve had three stents put in, and I turned to Mercy to get me back to normal.”

Triplett recently wrapped up 12 weeks of therapy, which included arm lifts, leg exercises and small weight training. “I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the routine they put me on. I know of some people in the community who gave up or don’t even try, and it’s a shame because this is really life-changing.”

Auxilians like Donna and her friends have donated $30,000 for the renovation and expansion of the department. Crews have moved walls, laid fresh carpeting and applied a fresh coat of paint to the rejuvenated space. The additional square footage makes room for treadmills, recumbent bicycles, hand ergometers and a set of weights.

“The expansion is a great benefit for the community,” Berner said. “It gives them the ability to get that therapy locally, at their hometown hospital, without having to travel back and forth multiple times a week, somewhere else. We want patients to prevent future heart attacks and breathe easier – literally.”

Thanks to a generous contribution from an anonymous donor, the Mercy St. Francis Emergency Department is receiving a much-needed facelift. Enhancements include a completely renovated patient waiting area, new gurneys, a new triage area and upgraded nurse’s station for improved privacy. The entire ER is receiving new flooring, cabinetry and fresh paint.

“We really couldn’t have done this without our Auxilians,” Tooley said. “They’re some of our biggest supporters. We’re really excited about opening up that space so we can see more patients.”

“ER is the gateway to the hospital and we’re very fortunate to be near completion of this exciting project at our hospital.” said Cindy Tooley,

executive director of operations. Plans are underway for a grand re-opening and blessing of the ER.

Mountain View Auxilians donated $30,000 for the renovation and expansion of the cardiopulmonary rehab department.
