Today

• HEAD OF SCHOOLWhat an historic year! From launching our newest school-wide theme, Ancient Worlds@ CHA, to announcing the plans for our new campus, Chatsworth Hills Academyexperienced a renaissance of learning and a commitment to our exciting future.

CHA’s Board of Trustees launched the CHArting the Future initiative to create a newfacility that will provide a learning environment in keeping with the excellence of ouracademic programs. The new campus will facilitate 21st century learning, reducemaintenance costs, and provide the outdoor feel we currently enjoy.

After more than a decade on the Board of Trustees, Victor Cosentino retired as BoardPresident. His vision and leadership sustained us, but also catapulted us to new heights, culminating in this year’s landmark plans. Victor’s tenure will sustain students now andfor generations to come.

We stand at the threshold of a new and exciting chapter, armed with a clear Strategic Plan and a course forCHArting our future. Our families, faculty, and friends of the School have given generously. We areparticularly humbled by the receipt of the School’s largest single endowment gift from the Flynn-Nikolai-Morgan families. They, along with others, have given to secure CHA’s legacy for future generations.

Such loving attention to both the present and the future helps to make schools such hopeful places. ThisReport identifies a few of the many acts of giving that made this last year so pivotal, and that will continueto sustain us into the future.

Thank you for your unique contribution to making the 2010-2011 year such an historic one. The truebeneficiaries of this generosity are the students of Chatsworth Hills Academy. On behalf of these wonderfulchildren, I proudly thank all of you.

• PRESIDENT, BOARD OF TRUSTEESAs I reflect on my first year as President of the CHA Board of Trustees, I am astoundedby the excitement, energy, and dedication that our faculty, families, and administrationcontinue to bring to our children each and every day.

This is the first President’s Letter for quite some time to be written by someone otherthan Victor Cosentino. I want to take this opportunity to thank Victor formally for histireless efforts that have placed us on such a solid foundation for the exciting future wehave planned.

As you all know, we have made tremendous progress towards our new campus. Our newhome is a key element of CHA’s Five Year Strategic plan, which was approved by theBoard this past summer and is included in this Annual Report.

It is an honor and privilege to work with the outstanding talent in our community on allof these efforts. I thank my fellow Board members for their insight, enthusiasm, and their willingnessto support our school with their time and expertise. On behalf of the Board, I want to thank our incrediblefaculty and administration who have built the school we are all proud to be part of.

A Bright Tomorrow

• STRATEGIC PLANThe Board of Trustees created a Strategic Plan for2011-2016. The Plan is the result of an extensive self-study, based on feedback from faculty, students, alumni and parents.

Deliver a 21st Century educational program.

The CHA academic program is highly innovativeand student-centered. We will: commit to atechnologically advanced program attractive to theneeds of today’s learners; create a personalizededucation plan for each student, setting academicgoals and charting progress; stay ahead of the curveand continually update classroom technology; andemploy a technologically savvy staff responsive to theneeds of our students.

Recruit and retain top talent.

The CHA faculty is directly responsible for the day-to-day excellence experienced by each of our students. To continue this tradition of excellence, we will maintain faculty satisfaction and provide performance-based incentives, and provide resources for the professional development of our faculty, allowing ourteachers to stay on the leading edge of their craft.

Provide a modern, state-of-the-art facility.

CHA’s Charting the Future (CTF) initiative allows the School to control its own future by operating on landthat it owns. We will design and build an all-encompassing campus that attracts the entire population andenables our creative and innovative program.

Ensure financial security.

To protect our current program and our ongoing viability, we must: increase the hard income coverage ratioto support our current operations; build cash reserves to a maximum of 20% of the operations budget; andincrease financial aid annually, to better serve a diverse community.

Continue the legacy of excellence at CHA.

Achieving success at CHA depends on the people involved. To promote a growing and effective community,we encourage every parent to be an effective ambassador. Each of us has a stake in the success of ourschool, and success requires the passion, promotion, and participation of everyone.
