This worksheet present s t wo of these: A major t riad has a major t hird on t he bot t om and a minor t hird on top. A minor t riad has a minor third on t he bot t om and a major t hird on t op. The 5t hs, from t he bot t om notes to t he top notes, in both t riads a re perfect , so 5t hs cannot be used to dist inguish these t wo triads. • A chord is t hree or more not es played t oget her.

• A t riad is a t hree not e chord which is writ t en in t hirds.

• There are f our t ypes of t riads. This worksheet present s t wo of t hese:• A major t riad has a major t hird on t he bot t om and a minor t hird on top.

• A minor t riad has a minor third on t he bot t om and a major t hird on top.

1 . First write t wo noteheads above t he root in thirds.

2. Alt er the middle not e if necessary t o make t he bot t om t hird

major (for a major triad), or minor (for a minor triad).

3. Alt er t he top note if necessary t o make t he top t hird

minor (for a major triad), or major (for a minor triad).
