Involvement of Students on Inclusion through Story Telling

With the support from 'HSBC Community Partnership Programme 2016', Tsui Lam Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation

Service has commenced a project named 'Career Classroom -To be a Handicraftsman' in September 2016. Through joining leather handicraft session with our disabled instructor and learning the career-stories of people with disabilities, students

from different primary or secondary schools have learned the importance of respecting diversities in the community.

Besides, invited by the Student Affairs Office of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, we have participated in a 2-days 'diverseAbility Fair' in the campus .

Through sharing recovery stories with the undergraduates and sales of leather-products of Tsui Lam Workshop , students are expected to be more empathic in dealing with people with mental illness in their career life.

Communion leading by Food from Home Cafe and Music from the Youth

To enhance social impact through internal collaboration ,

Home Cafe and Y-concept have co-operated to establish Music Cafe, creating a new catering experience for our

customers. Customers can thus enjoy a new dining experience , while supporting the employment of people with disabilities and the dreams of the youth at the same time.

Engagement of Social Leaders in Supporting Workforce Diversity

A-Soulroom has linked up leaders from different industries to join a theme event and invited Travel Blogger Mr. James Hong to share message of love and inclusion. With the coaching of

our instructors, participants not only enjoyed the fun of handicraft exercise, but also witnessed the talents and abilities

of people with disabilities, which encouraged them to support workforce diversity. Moreover, over 980 enterprise employees

and students joined our inclusive programmes to promote an inclusive society.

Collaboration with Employers in Creating Employment Opportunities

Work is a good means to allow people with disabilities to

integrate into society. This year, 5 new employers took initiative and contacted us to indicate their willingness in employing

people with disabilities . As of March 2017, a total of 41% of service users were currently employed , and the results were

encouraging . Being one of the employers , our Home Cafe and &other Cafe have created over 9,400 hours of employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the past year to

support their participation in the workplace.

Promotion of Inclusive Volunteering through Visiting the Elderly

With the believe that everyone can contribute to the society, a

9-days volunteer training programme was provided for service users to learn how to express care and concern through visiting elderly residential homes. The seniors felt

volunteers' effort and enthusiasm and fully supported people with disabilities to develop themselves and promote inclusion

through voluntary work . All rehabilitation service units are dedicated to promote and practice the concept of inclusive

volunteering , with recorded service man-times reached 6,595 and service hours reached 5,348.

Creating 'Togetherness' through Mobilisation on Participation

Inclusion is part of our life. A Facebook page named 'Together ' (www .facebook.com /LetsGetTogetherH K) has

been established in December 2016 for spreading out the spirit of 'we are together to do well'. In the first quarter, the number of people reached by posts was over 54,000, and an

inclusive programme has been successfully organised to encourage the public to welcome the participation of people

with different abilities in daily lives.

In the coming year, Opportunities & Inclusion for People with Disabilities will continue to focus our work to:

1. collaborate with enterprises on the 'Inclusive Volunteering'

project to enable the opportunities of participation and contribution for people with disabilities ;

2. provide more employment opportunities to people with

disabilities through the collaboration among A-Soulroom and other communities ;

3. take care of the developmental need of aged service users through provision of pre-retirement planning

service; 4. carry on the collaboration strategies to enlarge the

participation and choices of people with disabilities in learning, social life and employment aspects.
