Accessibility Benefits of e-Books
The JISC TechDis service recently completed a joint research project with JISC Collections and the
Publishers Licensing Society. The aim of the research was to explore the accessibility of e-book
platforms in order to provide eveidence-based, good practice guidance for the publishing sector. e-Books
have many accessibility advantages over traditional hardcopy texts; the problems arise in the interface.
The research demonstrated that an increased accessibility awareness by e-book publishers could
significantly reduce barriers and help them create much more inclusive platforms for all users.
For more information on e-book accessibility benefits, barriers and guidance visit the TechDis website.
