    INDUSTRIAL MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY (MTEN)

    Industrial Management and Technology is a field of study that prepares students for careers within the areas of supervision and operations management. Associated positions within this career field are normally found in production management and quality control; cost estimating, scheduling, and project management; safety supervision and management; and oil field service and engineering services.

    PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Students within the program will be given the opportunity to take the Certified Technology Manager (CTM) exam offered by ATMAE. This is an internationally recognized certification. In addition, the department supports active student chapters of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and Epsilon Pi Tau, an honorary for technology professionals with GPA's of 3.0 or higher

    CAREER PREPARATION Students are prepared for a wide variety of management oriented technical professions. Graduates find industrial positions in production or construction supervision, quality assurance, prototype development, cost estimating, technical sales, safety evaluation, industrial training, and technical communications. The average starting salary is normally between the mid 40s and mid 50s or higher based on job title and industry selected for a career.

    ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS Students can officially enter the Industrial Management and Technology program once they are admitted to the College of Engineering; this requires an ACT of 21+ or SAT of 970+ or an Overall GPA of 2.5. They may also take class within the department prior to entering the college. Students transferring from other colleges with GPAs less than 2.5 would enter the department via Pre-Engineering (PPEN). To graduate from TAMUK with the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and Technology, a student must have a major GPA of 2.5 GPA and a 2.25 GPA within Math/Science and Business.
