OVERVIEW
A safe place to work and a reduction of workplace-related injuries is the focus of this course. This qualification is suitable for those seeking a specific health and safety-related position within the workplace, with a view of moving into a supervisor or coordinator position which involves WHS instruction and monitoring.
Duration, Delivery & Assessment
• 12 face-to-face sessions - 1 x day per week• Assessments include: written & oral questions, projects, group work, online collaboration & observations of skills
Location
We do have CBD campuses, but we also consider where majority of the students have to travel from. We try to group people from the same location together and hire out venues that are closer to home making it easier for you to travel to. The exact location of the classes will be confirmed once you talk to a representative of MCFE.

Fees
If you are eligible, you may be able to receive Skills First Government Funding to cover the cost of your training meaning you will only pay the amount in the ‘funded fees’ & ‘material fees’ column in the table below, and the Victorian Government will cover the rest of the cost. If you are not eligible for Government funding, the cost of the course is listed in the ‘Full Fee Student’ column.

What is Government Funding also known as the “Skills First Program”? You may be eligible for a government subsidised place. This is called the Skills First Program. If you are eligible, the government will contribute to the cost of your training. To check your individual eligibility or if you want further course information call/email the office. There are limitations to using Victorian government funding, you need to make sure you are using your funding for the right course, as it may affect your access to future government funding. You must be eligible to access this. Please refer to our student fees table on our website to view the official statement of fees and charges.

Emergency Situations
Assessing risks involved with manual handling, how to analyse the effort required to complete a lift,
determine the ergonomics involved in a lift and safest way to complete lift without injury to yourself or
others.

Respond to Incidents
Implement initial incident response, assistinvestigations into incident and collect relating WHSinformation, review and assist in implementing safety
measures as appropriate to own job role.

WHS Laws
Determining legal frameworks for WHS in theworkplace, contributing to activity that reflects WHS
legislative requirements, keeping up-to-day withlegislation and relevant publications, acting on
noncompliance’s with WHS laws and referring issues to the correct personnel.
Module 2
Hazard ID, Risk Ass. & Control
Participating in workplace hazard identification andWHS risk assessment, promoting and supporting
worker consultation and participating in developing,selecting and implementing WHS risk controls,
support worker consultation for risk control selection.

Module 5
Workplace Injuries
Identifying and reporting situations that may lead to an emer-gency, identifying and correcting situations that may prevent
potential emergencies, how tocommunicate during emergencies, how to effectively
monitor risks on an on-going basis.
Module 6
Leadership
Responding to emergencies and applying appropriate first aid procedures, communicating the details of an incident and eval-
uating own performance, following DRSABCD, applying First Aid to a number of injuries and illnesses.
Module 7
Team Work & WHS Consultation
Learn how to run WHS consultation processes andcommunicate WHS information to others, prepare and contrib-
ute to resolving WHS issues and effectively communicate outcomes to the team and manage-
ment.

During the call back stage, you will be offered the opportunity to attend our information session where you will meet the trainer.
During the information session, a MCFE member will go through the training program, funding options and course outcomes. You will complete a pre-training review and the trainer will answer any questions you may have.
If there is no information session scheduled for your course, we will keep your details and let you know ASAP when the next one is.
An option to enroll after the information session will be available. Please bring ID to this session (Medi-care card + Driver’s License or passport)
An email will be sent to you with our course brochure attached for you to look over and you will receive a call by a representative of MCFE to chat with you about the course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) & Credit Transfer (CT)
You can ask for your relevant existing skills, qualifications and experiences to be assessed and taken into account when your level of competency is being evaluated. There will be a cost associated, refer to the statement of fees and charges. If you have previously completed a unit with the same code as your new course you will be eligible for a credit transfer and you will not have to repeat that unit. There is no cost associated with this process, but you will need to complete a credit transfer application.
Resources and Materials
Students need access to computers, email, and the internet to complete this qualification. We can provide laptops for use in class however it is recommended students bring their own. We have WiFi and printing facilities at our Thomastown and city campuses.
Support Services
If you need support with progress throughout your course or other personal issues, we have a student services officer who can help or direct you to the most appropriate external service. Your trainer will also be available every session to cover additional support if required.
