The rituals of our degrees are published separately. Thepresent Guide is primarily a book of ritual for the other ceremonies of ourChapters and Grand Chapter, such as installations, consecrating, consolidatingor instituting chapters. The reader should also be familiar with the Constitution,the Protocol Guide and the Ritual of the degrees. [Rubrics in this guide are in italicprint and square brackets.]

The three tapersrepresenting the Greater lights will be placed in the anti-room ready for use in the procession later. Thepedestal is veiled. The Grand Chapter Officers meet in an adjoining room, and are duly organized. Adeputation from the Chapter awaits upon the Grand Chapter Officers, informing the Grand DirectorCeremonies that the Chapter is prepared to receive them. The Grand Officers then form in processionunder the direction of the Grand Director of Ceremonies and Grand Marshal, as follows: Grand Tylerwith Sword and Pursuivant Principals of Constituent Chapters according to Seniority. Grand J. Soj.,Grand P. Soj., Grand S. Soj., Grand Sword Bearer. Grand S.N., Grand Treasurer, Grand Scribe EzraGrand Superintendents One Companion carrying Pot of Incense. Three Companions carrying theElements of Consecration, Corn, Wine, Oil in proper vessels. Two Companions carrying The Ark of theCovenant. Three Companions carrying Lights triangularly. Grand J., Grand Z., Grand H. Thisprocession proceeds to the hall of the Chapter, the officers of the Chapter having vacated theirrespective Chairs. On arriving at the entrance of the Chapter room where the ceremonies are to beperformed, the procession halts and faces inwards; the Grand Principals pass through the lines to theirstations in the East. The Companions bearing the Lights in the form of a triangle will pass to Ped. andplace them in their sockets, the Companions extinguishing the Lights as they put them in position. TheArk is carried through the lines to the East, and placed on the floor in front of G.Z.. The Elements arecarried to and put upon a table covered with a white cloth, placed for that purpose in the N.E. cornerof Chapter room. The Pot of Incense is also placed there. The remaining Grand Chapter Officers taketheir respective station in the Chapter. The Companions shall then sing the following Ode:]Companions - [Tune: Old Hundred] Genius of Masonry descent, And with three bringthy spotless train; Constant our sacred rites attend, While we adore they peacefulreign. G.S.D. - Most Excellent Grand First Principal, a number of Companions dulyinstructed in the mysteries of Royal Arch Masonry, and by virtue of a chartergranted them in accordance with the Constitution of the Grand Chapter of RoyalArch Masons of British Columbia & Yukon, now desire to be constituted into aregular chapter agreeable to the ancient usages and customs of the Holy RoyalArch.G.Z. - The Grand Scribe Ezra will read the Warrant of Constitution. The Grand Directorof Ceremonies will hand vessel with Corn [wheat] to G.Z., vessel of Wine to G.H., and Vessel of Oil toG.J., by whom they are carried three times around the chapter room, and the Elements poured on thefloor in front of the Ark of the Covenant. During their progress, appropriate music is played by theGrand Organist and in the first perambulation: - the Grand Scribe Ezra reads:]G.S.E. - There shall be a handful of corn in the earth upon the top of themountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon, and they of the city shallflourish like grass of the earth. [The procession halts in the East, the Grand Z. scatters Corn[wheat] on the floor.]G.Z. - I scatter Corn on this chapter as a symbol of plenty and abundance. Andmay the blessing of benevolence and brotherly love multiply and increase underits auspices, producing fruit a hundred fold. [During the second perambulation, the GrandScribe Ezra reads: -]G.S.E. - For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offeringof the Corn, of the new Wine, and the Oil, into the chambers, where are thevessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the porters, and thesingers. And we will not forsake the house of our God. [The procession halts in the East,the Grand H. pours Wine on the floor.]G.H. - I pour Wine on this chapter as a symbol of joy and cheerfulness. And thou shalt anoint thetabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the Ark of the testimony.
